I always expected that the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida would be for kids... and to be honest, in the most part it is. Alot of the rides are focused on children and it doesnt have the white knuckle thrill rides that Universal and the like have.... but it does have the 3 mountains: - Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain is my favourite.

Its basically a log flume.... but as Disney always does - it has a twist. You board your carriage and follow Brer Rabbit throughout the ride as Brer Bear and Brer Fox try to catch him. The ride is filled with animatronic animals that are singing and dancing and keep you entertained whilst you take mini dips and splashes and anticipate that all exciting final plunge down splash mountain.

The only bad thing about this ride is that it is one of the only decent adult rides within the Magic Kingdom - meaning queueing time can be atrocious. My advice - as soon as you hit the parks head over to this ride and get a fast pass. Theres a machine just outside that you can pop your ticket into and it gives you a fastpass ticket alloting you a time that you can come back a queue jump. Fastpass is free and if you do this early on in the day - then the chances are that you can go and fastpass one of the other Mountain rides for later in the day (you can only fastpass one ride at a time) meaning that you'll hardly have to queue for any.

Another tip is that the Disney parks do parent swap passes on rides like this that are too big for the little ones. Ask the guy working the fastpass gate and he'll give you a parent swap pass - one of you can go on whilst the other waits outside - then just hand back your parent swap pass and your good to get right on the ride in the fastpass line.

This is definately one ride worth trying if your visiting the magic kingdom... and it will help you to tolerate the 17 times your kids will make you go on 'its a small world'!!

One final word.... be prepared to get wet!
