Advantages: Relaxed atmosphere and great variety of rides

Disadvantages: no "extreme" rides here

Typhoon Lagoon is one of 2 water parks in Walt Disney World Florida (the other being Blizzard Beach) although there are several other water parks in the Orlando area.
Typhoon Lagoon is my favourite out of the two as i find it so much more relaxing, the shops are better and the rides are more suitable for all ages. As you approach the park there are little story boards that tell you the "story" of typhoon lagoon -

"A furious storm once roared across the seas, catching ships in its path helpless to flee, instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds sweep them here to typhoon lagoon"

As you can probably tell from the above, the theming of typhoon lagoon is based on ships that have been trapped because of a storm. The centre point of the park is a ship called typhoon tilly that is stuck at the top of a rock. Every hour water errupts from the top of the ship.

The main attraction of the park is the wave pool. It goes to about 8 foot deep i think and i personally find the waves easier in the deep end before the wave breaks. Its definately not for weak swimmers though. Be careful as people get thrown about with the waves and ive had many people ending up crashing into me!

Aswell as the wave pool there is a lazy river that goes around the park where you can float along in rubber tubes - although there is the occasional icy cold waterfull to keep you awake! There is also a variety of family raft rides and tube rides suitable for young children.

There is a shark reef area where you can hire snorkels and swim - ive never done this as it costs extra. There is also their newest ride called Crush n Gusher which is a "water coaster" you sit in a family raft (rubber ring) that can seat 2 or 3 people and head off down the slope - they have a type of conveyor belt on the floor of the ride that then shoots you up slopes, round corners and down sharp drops. Remember to not sit too far down in the ring as i ended up with bruises once! It is a great fun ride but not suitable for small children.

I love the shops in typhoon lagoon, they sell lots of different nick nacks aswell as a selection of quiksilver and roxy merchandise. Its a great place to buy flip flops and sandals too!

They have a couple of eating places that sell the usual, salads, burgers, hotdogs and chicken tenders. The food is all really tasty and fresh.

All in all if your in Orlando Typhoon Lagoon is definately worth a visit!

Summary: something for everyone here
