Advantages: an excellent atmosphere and guaranteed fun
Disadvantages: very expensive
Having recently been to Disneyland Paris, ive got to say that this is a holiday for all ages, young and old. Its a very tiring but very enjoyable holiday.
The park is split into five sections, although the whole park is within the same ground and one section joins the next.
As you enter the park you walk past the Disneyland Hotel and through the turnstiles, park maps can be picked up on the way into the park. You then walk out onto Mainstreet USA which is the first section of the park.
Mainstreet USA
There are horsedrawn street cars walking up and down. This is also where there are a lot of gift shops, icecream parlours and a few places to eat. When you stand at the beginning of Mainstreet USA and look straight down you will be able to see Cinderellas castle. At the end there are toilets, a baby room and a lost child room.
Discoveryland
Discoveryland has quite a futuristic feel and look to it. There is the new Buzzlight Year ride. This is a very popular ride and the queues were always very long, but with this ride along with the other popular rides around the park, you can get a fast track ticket. To do this you just pop your park tickets into the machines by the ride and you are given tickets to come back at a certain time. You do still have to queue but you cut out a big chunk of the queue by going in a seperate entrance. Other rides in this section include the star wars simulator ride, space mountain- a fast rollercoaster that turns upside down, a big car track. There are more gift shops and more restaurants. There are some themed restaurants around the park, here there was the Buzz lightyear restaurant but it was never open when we tried to go there.
Fantasyland
Fantasyland is as it sounds, based around all the Disney classic films. There are lots of rides in this section and is more for the younger children. Some of the rides include Dumbos flying elephants, Peter Pans flight, a carousel, snow white and the seven dwarfs and my favourite, its a small world. This is a boat ride where you see lots of dolls singing and dancing, they are from all around the world and shows them in their surroundings and some of their traditions.
Adventureland
Adventureland is all about adventure and exploring. Robinson Cruseos treehouse and adventure isle are great for the older kids as they can climb up high and look round. There is the pirates of the caribbean ride in this section and the Indiana Jones rollercoaster. There are more places to eat and also themed shops as you come off the rides.
Frontierland
Frontierland is based on cowboys and westerns. The chapparal stage is tucked away in the corner, there are live stage shows here throughout the day at certain times. The big thunder mountain takes main stage in Frontierland. This is a rollercoaster that doesnt go upside down but is still quite fast. There is a big paddle boat that you can take a ride on and another favourite ride of mine, The Phantom Manor which is a ghost train.
There are different parades throughout the day, the times and places are on the timetable which you can get with the maps at the beginning. Different characters parade through the park on floats, dancing and singing to music and waving to all the crowd. About 30-45 minutes before the parades start people start to line the streets waiting for the parades to start. So it is always a good idea if you are willing to stand around for a long time to get you space early as you wont get a very good view otherwise.
Characters appear around the park throughout the day, they are happy to sign autographs and have photos taken with you. There are certain meet and greet times for the more popular characters, the times and places are again in the timetable.
On some of the rides there are cameras that take your photo whilst you are on the ride and then you get a chance to view it and purchase it if you like it. These make nice keepsakes to remind you of your holiday.
Disneyland Paris is very expensive. Its expensive to get and stay there and even more expensive whilst you are there. The food costs a lot and then there are all the gifts that you will want to buy whilst you are there, especially if you have children. They will want everything! Having said that, every penny spent is worth it.
Summary: Not just for children
