Advantages: Fun and one of the only two coasters in this park
Disadvantages: Queues can get long in peak seasons
When myself and my hubby went to Disneyland Paris there were various attractions that we loved - I have already written a review on the Aerosmith rollercoaster that we loved and a close second is the Indiana Jones and the temple of Peril rollercoaster. This is high speed coaster with loops and drops and is suitable for those who like fast rides.
Which park is it in?
This coaster is located in the main Disneyland Park and is in the Adventure land section of the park. Adventure land is at the back of the park on the left hand side and so it is one of the attractions that is furthest from the entrance gates of the park!
What kind of ride is it?
The ride is of course a roller coaster if you hadn't already guessed that from the title of the ride! However it is on a much smaller scale than what the Aerosmith coaster is. The carriage for a start is made up of two linked sections and each fits 6 riders in so a maximum of 12 of course riding in any one go. The ride area is smaller too with the track being shorter. However there are still drops and plenty of twists and turns involved!
What makes this ride special?
The ride is fairly average in terms of what it does - after all there is no music pumping into the carriages on this ride unlike Aerosmith but, the theme of the ride is very good with the 'temple' made to look like ancient ruins and the track of the ride painted a dark brown to blend in - also the carriages are made to look like one of those you would find in the old mines. However the thing that makes this ride so special is the fact that the resort decided to have it travelling backwards one year! I have never seen it advertised since then as going backwards but, of course you never know if they would do this again to make it more interesting!
Any restrictions?
Yes as always there is a restriction on height of riders which for this particular one is a minimum of 1.40m and as with any coasters riders must be in good health so those with heart or back problems are advised not to ride and of course pregnant ladies should not ride either. Those in wheelchairs must also be able to get from the chair to the carriage or have somebody with them to assist them as cast members are not allowed to help due to health and safety restrictions.
Overall opinion:
When we went into the Disneyland park this was the first attraction we went on - as with all the major attractions you are best off going to them first if it is busy. We got straight on and then rode a few more times and there seemed to be no queue what so ever! I think this was partly because that in this park it is geared towards families more and so a lot of people would have been heading to rides such as Dumbo or Pirates of the Caribbean first and plus I was raining a little so everyone wants to head to attractions indoors or with queue lines under cover! However, I can imagine that if the park was busy then the queue lines would get a lot busier. For that reason this ride does have fast pass on it meaning you can cut wait times by half if you come back at the allotted fast pass time.
We both enjoyed this ride and as I said before it may be worth trying if they decided to do it backwards again too. The drops aren't overly high or the loops as huge as other coasters but, the ride is quite fast for how compact it is and this is what makes the ride fun as gives you a great burst of adrenaline when you are whizzing around tight little bends or under a low track! Another highly recommended ride in the Disneyland resort!
Summary: One of the only coasters in the disneyland park.
