Advantages: Good Value, Good bus system (Free)
Disadvantages: Very Crowded at Breakfast
------Hotel------
My self and family stayed at the all stars movie resort Nov 2005 and this was our first disney hotel experience and it was worth every penny. We will visit this hotel again in June 2007.
This hotel is very good value. The hotel is based on the movies theme and buildings so every where you look you can find giant characters from the movies like woody, dalmations etc. Take a walk round the whole resort you can get some great pictures.
The hotel has two heated pools, an arcade, play area, food court, disney shop and several small disney traders visit the hotel i.e the pin trader.
------Room--------
Our room was in the Buzz Lightyear building and we felt this was an ideal area to be, we were close to the main building but away from the noisy areas like the pool and walk throughs. The room had two double beads which seem to be the standard thing nowadays. The room also had table and chairs, tv with disney channels, hair dryer and Safe. The room were very clean and they were cleaned on a daily basis. You can hire other items for your room like a fridge but they were hard to get hold of (Cost $10 p/n). Each building has stairs or a lift to each floor, hotel is only 3 storeys high.
Rooms are decorated with disney themed bedding, pictures etc. This really added to the Disney experience.
Soap if you need plenty you will get it :) When we arrived we had 3 wrapped bars of mickey mouse soap. Opened two, one for the shower and one for the sink. The next day the cleaners came in and we found two more wrapped bars. The next day none and then another two bars. I just don't know how many bars of soap they expect you to want but we had plenty by the end of the holiday. I took at least 5 home and left the rest. Its nothing to complain about just thought it was very amusing. Toilet paper was all supplied in large amounts :)
-------Food court:-----------
The food court was ideal for us as you had several areas to choose from and with fussy children you need good variety which we got. The food included Pizzas, Bugers, steak sandwichs, fruit, pancakes, Salads, sandwiches, chicken, bangers and mash and so on. Their is also a pizza delivery service to your room. The mickey mouse waffles went down a treat with my children, oh and me. The food court is decorated like the movies and in the corner they have a tv with disney cartoons on, guess where my children wanted to sit? Just a tip get to the food court early or have a late breakfast as about 8.30 -9 it can be crazy. My Favourite meal was the steak sandwich and Chips. The food here is very good value and not as expensive as in the Parks. For a family of 4 on average i paid for breakfast $20 and evening meal $30, this does not include drinks as we used the refillable mugs.
The food courts have refillable mugs, we got ours free as part of a promotion with virgin. These do save you money as you can fill them up as much as possible when you like from 6am to 11pm. This includes soft drinks, tea and coffee. Cost approx $9 depending on size.
-------Disney shop ----------
This shop is a smaller version of the disney stores, i spent a small fortune here plus they had several deals for guests i.e a tinkerbell watch at half price if you spent so muc, i got one of those. The shop also sells postcards and stamps, their is a postbox near the toilets in the main building. The shop also sells some small snacks and sweets and Newspapers/Magazines. Also don't forget you can get stuff in the park sent here instead of carrying them allday round the park.
--------Transport-------------
The hotel has a good link to the parks by the free disney resort bus's, we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus.
Bus riding time (not including wait times) are:
Blizzard Beach - 5 minutes
MGM Studios - 10 minutes
Epcot - 13 minutes
Magic Kingdom (MK) - 18 minutes
The drivers really make your journeys fly by by getting everyone singing disney songs and telling you some triva about the parks. We found this service a extra benifit to us as they were very regular which is needed with young children.
--------Staff-----------
All staff were very helpful and were always easy to find. The cleaners always made my children smile as they made them some lovely origami elephants out of napkins and put their teddies in different places.
Reception staff were very helpful with booking resturants in the park and gave me some personal reviews on them which helped me decide on which ones to choice. They also gave me plenty of advice about Taxi's which has made me feel more confident in using them.
----------Tips--------
If your stay in the Mighty ducks area your closer to the allstars Sports resorts bus stop, this will save tired legs at the end of the day.
You can do your Laundry but be prepared to wait, it always seemed full not matter what time i went. cost $2 per load and $2 to dry, take some washing powder with you its cheaper.
I ALSO HAVE THIS REVIEW ON CIAO
Summary: An Excellent hotel to visit if in a low budget like us.
