Advantages: Plenty of rides to keep you amused

Disadvantages: There can be long ques for the more popular one's

I have been to this theme park probably 5 or more time in my life and to be honest it never gets boring. I usually spend the whole day there from 8am till maybe 5-6pm. My most recent trip i went with a bunch of friends, so it made a change from all the previous outings with family. I actually called in sick this day but shh don't tell the boss. We set off from a pals house, and get the first bus from Birmingham straight into the theme park. I equipped myself with lots of food and snacks before hand as i knew that the food is often expensive there.

We arrived a little early and it was pretty damp, however our spirits were high and we just hung around chatting until the theme park opened up. We paid in and got an arm band, adult tickets were around £20 if i recall correctly. If only we had used one of the coupons out the paper for buy one get on free sigh.

Anyhow, money was unimportant as we had gone there to have a good time, some of the rides were still opening up and so we headed off to the Zoo for a half hour. The chimpanzee's were infectious, it's so funny how close to human behavious they demonstrate. It says not to feed them but my friends were throwing in pieces of chocolate and they were going wild over them.

After fooling around like a bunch of monkeys we headed on through the zoo, the birds and other smaller wide life didn't really catch our attention...and then we heard an almighty roar. The lions had come out for breakfast and by the sounds of things were pretty damn hungry. We jogged past the lion's den and on the right hand side a little further down was the gorilla's pen. We must of angered or frightened him as he ran along the side of his cage after us and then threw his apple over the fence and it smashed against the far wall. It was crazy.

We then decided to hit the rides, i normally like to work my way up to the scarier ones but everyone else was insistent on going straight onto the shockwave, which is for those that don't know, a standing up ride which goes around at track at crazy speeds and upside down several times. It lasts all of 30 seconds, and i probably had my eyes closed for the first 20. But after that i was ready for anything, so we then went on to the apocolypse ( the cue was not too bad for this, we did this ride twice as there wasn't many people there) this ride is like a seated elevator, you climb to the top and then BANG you drop down at unearthly speeds.

We then had a few goes on the bumper cars and then got some food. The curley fries there are awesome, i had some chicken also but didn't think much of that. This set me back around £5 with a drink of coke also.

We then went onto the waltzer in the dark, which was disappointing as the cue was long and also they were very slow. I think the teacups would have been a better choice.

Lastly, we went onto the pub where we spent the remainder of our day. We asked the bar chick for some cards and we sat there playing card game and just having a bit of banter.

It was a fun day out, one to do maybe once every year or so.

Summary: A great family day out and just enough there to keep you busy for the day.
