Advantages: Great selection of activties, good eating and shopping ten minute away in town.

Disadvantages: not mush choice of eating places onsite

When my daughter suggested that we should go to Duinrell's Amusement in Holland for a Sun Holiday, I wasn't sure about it. We'd never been to Holland, we don't speak a word of Dutch and I'm not that into clogs and tulips. So naturally we set of to Duinrell in the little town of Wassenar, near the Hague and Deft in Holland.

I could not have been more wrong in my preconceptions. Holland was interesting in a flat kind of way. I had seen more windmills in France than I saw in Holland. The clogs (which I didn't see a single person wearing)appear to be more decorative than functional. Best of all (I can't believe I am saying this) everyone we met spoke very good English.

When we arrived at the Duinrell's Amusement Park it was a cross between Alton Towers and Centre parcs. In short, it was great for everyone. Most of the accomodation was set in woodland, some of it was on a small island in the complex. They had all grades of caravans and little wooden chalets called Duingalows.

The usual shops and supermarkets were on site. The really good thing was that, unlike a lot of holiday resorts, Duinrell was part of the small town of Wassenar. This meant you could walk to the main shopping centre about ten minutes away. The prices in the shops was very reasonable, especially if you are on a tight buget.

There was a great choice of places to eat (try The Broders Restaurant) in the town, which was good as there is not a great selection on site. It is worth checking out the buffet in the La Place restaurant onsite.

One more thing to complete the perfect holiday, a totally free full fledged amusemnt park with rides to suit every stomach constitution. from big whells to water flumes to baby rides. It's all there, it's great fun. Go in the swimming pool to cool off. They have ample free sessions for the guests at selected times. Outsiders have to pay!

You will really have a great if a little unusual holiday if you go to Duinrell's Amusement Park.

Summary: If you like centre Parcs and Alton towers you'll like Duinrell
