Brief History

Knott's Berry Farm started out as an actual berry farm in the early 1900's. A guy by the name of Mr. Knott was known for the quality of his berries, and raked in alot of money. During this time he invented the Boysenberry, which was only grown at Knott's Berry Farm. Have any of you tried Boysenberry? Well this is where it all started, and is one of the things the park is so famous for. Some say you will not find the Boysenberry anywhere else in the world other than Knott's Berry Farm. As a result of the success of his Berry Farm, he decided to create America's first theme park ever. That's right, the first theme park ever. In fact, Walt Disney got the idea of creating Disneyland from the Knott's Berry Farm theme park. Knott's is based on the wild west, 1800's theme, and is one of the most original theme parks to choose from.

How To Get There

Most of you are familiar with Disneyland. Well Knotts Berry Farm is located in the city of Buena Park, which is about 15 minuts from Disneyland.

Review

Knott's is my favorite theme park. There is something about the atmosphere. I have never seen anything that represented the American wild west as good as Knott's does.
As one walk's into Knott's they are sent to another time. A time of steam trains, old ghost towns, steet duels, bandits, and all the other good things of the 1800's. The 1800's theme is executed veary well. Knott's also has some great rides, with some of the scariest roller-coasters around.

Attractions

Knott's has a wide range of attractions of all sorts. Here is a list of some of them by section.

Ghost Town

This is the heart of the American west. You will walk through dusty streets with buildings dating back to the 1800's. You will see things like, animated cowboys
playing black jack in an old saloon, an old fashioned barber shop, a black-smith performing his craft outside of his ranch, a log cabin next to an old fashioned church next to a lake, or gun fights in the old streets.

Ghost Town Attractions

Ghost Rider: One of the best, if not the best wooden roller-coaster ever. Ghost Rider is a wild ride with huge drops, great turns, and great speed. Ghost Rider looks like it was made out of lincoln logs, because of all that wood.

Mine Train: One of my favorite rides. The mine ride is based on the old Calico mining in the 1800's. This ride will take you through dark rock tunnels, and into the deep chasims of darkness. You will see old animated miners looking for gold with their old tools amid underground waterfalls, deep pits, and other strange formations. These mines are old and unstable, and watch out, because those old miners like to blown in the mine.

Log Ride: Another favorite of mine. The Log Ride puts you in a carved out log(much like Splash Mountin at Disney) and takes you through wild waters into some dark caverns, and animated forests with the smell of pine. You will find many loger dummys in the caverns, with other wild animals of the forest. There are two drops total in this ride, one in pitch blackness.

Old Cemetary: As you walk through the old cemetary you can read the comical tombstones and hear a beating heart under one grave. The old cemetary is a peacefull place with a great atmosphere, and a nice waterfall next to some cliffs. The best time to visit is at night as you can take in the peacefull atmosphere.

Haunted Shack: A great comical and fun attraction, where you are taken through an old shack with many strange mysteries.

Man In The Old Jail: I always make a point to visit this old horse thief. Do you know what's scary? Is that this man is a plastic dummy that talks. Do you know what's really scar
y? This dummy hears you and talks back to you. This gives me the creeps.

Old Playhouse: Plays are preformed here no different than they were in the 1800's.

Steam Train: An old steam train that takes you around the park. Watch out, train robbers always nab this train.

Their is alot of other stuff to see in ghost town but if I list them then it would take me all day. Try that boysenberry funnel cake, you will be glad you did.

Mexican Section

Knott's has a section based on the old Mexican theme that is popular with many Mexican-Americans, and has some good Mexican food. Here is a list of some attractions.

Jaguar

A rollar-coaster that has an Indiana Jones feel to it. The line is one of the best parts because you get to walk through an Indiana Jones style temple with gods, altars, ancient carvings, and artifacts.

Montezuma's Revenge: A roller-coaster named after the ancient Aztec ruler of Mexico. Veary fast, with one loop.

Other Attractions

This place has a great Mexican atmosphere with many pretty lights at night. You will find alot of little rides here, like the kind you find at the fair. The Mexican section is one of my favorite places to visit at knott's.

Roaring 20's

You will find mostly roller-coasters here, and some games.

Boomerang: A big blue roller-coaster with two loops, one forward and the other backwards. The backwards loop is real hard on the stomach.

Hammerhead: Thrill ride where you go around and up-side-down. This ride is a litte scary.

Supreme Scream: An elevator that drops the hell out of you.

Conclusion

Knott's offers what you will not find in any other theme park. Knott's has great attractions, great food, and some of the scariest roller-coasters around. Knott's is also a
good place to learn about the American indians. There are some good shows that will educate you on the indian way of life. If you are in the area, you owe it to yourself to visit Knott's, it's a great place. If you are thinking about visiting Disney's California Adventure, and you have not been to Knott's, skip California Adventure because it's a waste of money and doesn't even hold a candle to Knott's. Instead go to Knott's because it's the real deal.
