Advantages: Your kids will love it

Disadvantages: Queues and extra costs

A great day out - but do your planning. For my son's 9th birthday we headed to Legoland on a travel deal throught the Legoland website. We had four days - three nights at the Marriott Heathrow - two days Legoland pass - one day with a queue bot, A trip to windsor castle, an open top bus ride, a boat ride up the Thames and a swimming pool visit all included - mid August - all in except food £280. Before we arrived we were sent a map and detailed pack of things to see and do so we could plan.

The car park is ENORMOUS, divided into A-Z zones - the closer you can get the better and this is entirely centered upon how early you get there.

Part of the deal was that we had our tickets before we arrived, which speeded up the entry process considerably. We headed to the park which is amazing. Set in a large valley parkland looking towards Windsor Castle and cordoned off into "lands" - minature world, viking land, lego city, pirate land, dinosaur trek, lego test centre, space camp + others. We took our really well illustrated map and set off to explore.

We were expecting it to be busy but this was something else - as the time went on so the park became busier. We had had a massive breakfast at the hotel and if we returned before 6pm the kids would eat for free so we didn't need to buy food at the park which was lucky as it was pricey and was the usual Nuggets and Chips, Burgers and hips, Baguettes and Chips, Chips and more chips. Drinks were £2.50 for a medium coke!

The toilets we foul, acrid, stinking of urine and I would recommend some of the antibacterial hand cleaner you can buy like cuticara.

The queues were stupid and with small children this is never fun. But they had tried to compensate by adding amusements throughout the cues - and the rides made up for the wait. They were all perfectly guaged for the age range.

On our first day we sussed the park out and on our second day we returned with the queue bot and managed to ride pretty much everything - we tried to ignore the scathing looks of those in the long queues as we pushed ahead. The queue bot was well worth the extra money this is a digital device that allows you to book a place on a ride and turn up 2 mins before it starts so you don't have to queue you can explore the park while the queuebot queues for you - by giving you a waiting time.

After 2 days of walking around the park both my 9 and 4 year old were exhausted but happy. The park was perfect for their age but I don't think teens wold like it and you realluy need to have children with you to enjoy it. It's not a honeymoon destination! Babies and very young children were very well catered for. You could walk around the whole park easily in a day and it was all pushchair friendly. There are a few hills to cope with but there is alos a train that runs from the top to the bottom of the park for the tierd! You can also hire buggies - it is a large payment but you get the peace of mind that you can push your tierd toddler about and pile in all your gear too as I recommend taking water, snacks and suncream!

I'd say it has to be experienced once- hope my additions have helped

Summary: Worth a try once in your life

What's a queuebot, and what's Legoland like? Rides? What ages? Other amusements? Cost? How pricey was the food and what was available? Would you suggest young toddlers and babies would be okay, or would it be difficult? Is it enjoyable for adults with and without kids? Where is it? What kind of exhibits were there and why were they amazing? How big is it - do you walk round? What about parking?
