Advantages: Great rides and friendly staff

Disadvantages: foods abit pricey

Where is it based?
----------------------------

Light water Valley, North Stainley, Ripon,
North Yorkshire HG4 3HT.

Light water valley is pretty well signposted so is pretty easy to find, the easy thing to do is go onto the AA route planner and that will tell you the quickest way to go, and will direct you from your street. You can go by car; train or you can even book a coach to take you there, so 3 easy ways to travel. Taking the train you may have a small journey to make to get to light water valley, I am not sure on how far away it is as I always travel by car.

Opening times and prices.
----------------------------------------

The park is open at 10am, although the rides do not start until 10:30, and it usually closes at 4:30 sometimes a little bit later depending on the time of year.

The prices are as follows:
Over 1.3m in height £16.95
Under 1.3m in height £14.95
Under 1.0m in height Free
Senior Citizens/ Disabled/ Only 2 carers £8.50
Family ticket for 3 £45.00
Family ticket for 4 £60.00
Family ticket for 5 £75.00
Family ticket for 6 £90.00
Family ticket for 7 £105.00
Family ticket for 8 £120.00

Personally I like the way that they do the prices in height rather than age, as when you have to pay for 4 years and over, my kids are still pretty small, so although I have to pay for them, there is not many rides they can still go on, due to their height, which is why I like coming here.

Disabled access
-------------------------

The park is fully disabled friendly and complies with the disability discrimination act, they can however refuse to let a disabled person on a ride that they may think would be a risk to their health. My mother is disabled and I have taken her to this park, she's in a wheelchair and I wondered how we would get on with toilets etc. they have disabled toilets their, so they was not a problem. Also the disabled person and their careers get a wristband to wear. Which will enable you to basically queue hop and get easy access to all rides. You may need to take proof of being disabled though. The park was very good for my mother and the staff was very helpful if I needed it.

The rides
--------------

Well they have over 40 rides so to go through them all I would be here forever so I will go through just a few of them.

The ultimate
--------------------

This is a great roller coaster that has loads of twists and turns, and runs through the forest. It has a really big drop that really got my stomach when I went on it. The speeds approach around 60 miles per hour, and going down such a big drop is just awesome. I found this one of the best rides in the park, and did go on several times.

The sewer rat
--------------------

This was one of the first rides I ever went on in the park, and I must say it was scary. First you have to walk through a sewer like tunnel, the tunnel really smells and is very dark. Then you come to the ride, its roller coaster, which has a face of a rat on the front. You can only fit 4 people in each car on this ride, so you may have to queue slightly longer. The fact that when the ride sets off you cannot see a thing is even more scary, you cannot see when all the turns and drops are coming, and they are just not expected at all. I really enjoyed this ride.

The caterpillar coaster
--------------------------------

This is a smaller roller coaster for the kids, so I cannot really comment on it although I felt it should get a mention. My kids went on this and they seemed to really enjoy it. There are no big drops, just little bumps and turns. It is pretty good for the younger ones that cannot go on the bigger coasters.

The falls of terror
-------------------------

This is basically a water slide; you are put in a small dingy and pushed down the slide. You go through dark tunnels, round corners and down little bumps, the kids love this. You eventually come out into the daylight at the bottom, a little bit wet but its thoroughly enjoyable. This is also another ride that may have long queuing times.

This is just a few of what they have to offer, if you want a closer look why not visit their website at lightwatervalley.co.uk

The queuing times
---------------------------
The queuing times all depend on the time of year, when its not the school holidays then there are hardly any queuing times, but when the kids are off school, I have known to queue for over an hour to get on one ride. I try to find the rides with the smaller queues then go back to the others later. Also some rides will have longer queues due to less people been able to fit on the ride, like the rat ride can only fit 4 people in so a much longer wait. Like I said it all depends on the time of year that you go. Also if you are disabled or a carer then there is no queuing times, as you jump the queue.

The food
------------

They have several different food courts, they have places to buy pizzas, then just snacks and also meals. The food is really nice although I do tend to stick to the snacks, as the food is pretty expensive in there. They also have a pub, which to be honest I have never gone into, but its there for if you want to take a bit of time out and relax.

How easy is it to find your way around the park?
-------------------------------------------- -----------------------

Well obviously with having over 40 rides, the park is huge. Even so it is easy to find your way around, on entry you are given a map that shows you where all the rides are toilets etc. so its very easy to navigate around, if your like me I just like to walk around instead of looking for places, then if I see a ride I want to go on then I go on it.

Would I recommend going?
----------------------------------------

Y es I would me, my kids and my mother all had a great time, and the rides were good, they have a wide selection to suit all the family. Not just the adults but they have plenty for the kids also. With over 6 hours to spend in the park, is more than enough time to see everything and go on the rides. Unless its really busy and you tend to spend most of the day queuing up, but you get that at any theme park that you go to. It's good when I take my mum also, because it means I do not have to queue for an hour or so for a ride like I have done in the past.

Also I will advise you to take your own food in as I have done and it is allowed. The food and drinks are really expensive in there, so it's not something I like paying for when I can take in my own food.
I will definitely go back though as I have so many times before, I love everything about the park. The rides and the staff are all brilliant and I really could not say a bad thing about it.

Why not take a visit and try out the rides if you dare!!!!

Also kineticspade on ciao
