Loudon castle has improved ten fold since it first opened. I remember visiting not long after its original opening (i must have been a young teenager) and i was bored senseless. Even my sister and her friends (about 10 years old) were bored stupid so goodness knows how the adults felt! We went again recently and what a transformtion! There are rides that adults and teenagers would at least be able to go on and have a bit of a thrill as well as the typical young childrens rides that were present ten years ago. This isn't exactly Alton Towers or Disney but it has improved so much in the past ten years or so that i just had to write a review. ...

We recently went to Craig Tara in Ayrshire, Scotland for a family holiday and chose to spend a day at Loudon Castle. I looked it up online and there seemed to be a fair amount of rides coupled with some shows so it looked like it would be suitable for adults, teenagers and a younger child. The best bit was it appeared in that lovely Tesco list of days out, where you are able to exchange your Tesco vouchers at four times their value for days out vouchers. £20.00 of Tesco vouchers therefore got me £80.00 worth of tickets into Loudon which covered the gate fees. A spectacular ruin and nice walk spoiled by the addition of a theme park. What looks like it would have once been a walled garden, spoiled by someone out to make money.Had to ask what they DID have from the restaurant menu. Was easier for them to tell me they only had one item from a list of eight. Most of the rides looked older than the castle. One cup of coffee-£1.70.Werent they making enough from my entry fee of £35.00 for my wife,me and my son.???Couldnt find the Pizzeria or a beer. Most of the young staff on the rides looked like they,d rather be somewhere else. All the same worth going to for the Birds of Prey display which was made very interesting and humorous by the falconer.....Take a picnic if you dont like being looted...Oh and by the way the castle is off limits. Look at it from outside only
