Advantages: What everyone wants to see
Disadvantages: Too much of it!
If you have got the time you really need to visit the Magic Kingdom twice. This is partly because there is so much to see and do and partly because it is so busy. The first time we went we tried to avoid the queues but the second time we just went with the flow and found this much easier. Obviously the park is aimed at the smaller children but there is something for everyone.
The first day we went it was the day after thanksgiving and the staff said they were at their busiest. As a result we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked. The Peter Pan ride is very good and not at all scary. The effect of flying over London is excellent. The "pirates of the Caribbean show was good but didn't leave a lasting impression with me. We went on the Liberty Bell, which is a steamboat trip around part of the park and was fun. Of course, you have to see the parade and this was excellent. One member of our group was in a wheelchair and so we got to sit in a special area and had some of the characters come up close. You must get into position early for the parade.
On our second visit we decided to start at one end of the park and visit each of the rides we had missed in turn regardless of the queues and this worked well. We went on "It's a small world" which can leave you feeling a little brain washed. Actually, this was the only thing I thought was done better at Disneyland Paris, possibly because it was newer. Everyone agreed that the Winnie the Pooh ride was one of the best in all the theme parks, gentle fun with just a bit of excitement. We also queued up to see Mickey Mouse and went on the Carousel and the train around the park. We also got to see lots of characters, had photos taken and got autographs.
In total we spent 14 hours in the Magic Kingdom and even then we didn't see it all. If you only had one day I would think that if you plan it too carefully you might get frustrated and annoyed. It would be better to relax and enjoy it.
