Advantages: Great family day out, not too expensive
Disadvantages: Not for thrill seekers, this is a slow paced day
Mundomar is an animal park situated on the hills on the outskirts of Benidorm. It is a refreshing change from the many bars and clubs in the resort and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. There are many theme parks and attractions in this area but I would definitely suggest this as one to go to.
The park is spread over a hill and therefore anyone with mobility problems should contact the park in advance because they may have some difficulties. The first area of the park was nothing spectacular, featuring animals such as parrots and flamingos, and I wasn't expecting a great deal of the rest. However, on entering the underground cave I completely changed my mind. The relaxing music and large glass viewing panels made this area somewhere I could have stayed all day! From then on in, the park just got better and better and most of the animals were fascinating.
There are 3 shows which are performed daily at the park; dolphins, parrots and sea lions. I would strongly suggest the dolphin show for everyone because some of the tricks were amazing, and despite having previously visited the likes of Sea World in Florida, I would say that this show was just as impressive. The parrot show is definitely for children and I found it a little tiresome, although its a great place to get some shade and eat lunch on a hot day.
Overall I was really impressed with this park. I wasn't expecting to spend more than an hour or two here but I ended up there all day and my travel companion, who isn't into animals at all, really enjoyed this as well. A must for all travellers to Benidorm.
Adult ticket cost 22euros. Buses leave from the main resort roughly every 20 minutes but we walked there in about 30 minutes.
Summary: Fantastic animals and great shows!
