Advantages: Not as many queues as Disney, cheap entry, great coasters

Disadvantages: The park is fairly small with fewer rides than most British parks

We went to Parc Asterix while holidaying near Paris - if you have a Tesco clubcard you can buy entry tickets for one quarter of the face value by using your clubcard vouchers. Because of its proximity to Disneyland Paris, many dismiss is as a lesser park; those who do are missing out on a treat! For one thing, at Parc Asterix you will get on more than just one or two rides, for another, Parc Asterix has a great sense of humour.

Parc Asterix is, unsurprisingly, centred around the Asterix characters, but don't be put off if you are not a fan; you can enjoy the park regardless, and the park caters for all ages. The park is compact, and beautifully designed, and it is easy to get around the whole park in one day:

MAIN RIDES:
Tonnerre de Zeus - at 100ft tall and 400ft long it is one of the biggest wooden rollercoasters in Europe and considered to be the best by many connisseurs. One thing to look out for is the enormous statue of Zeus that guards the ride - if you look closely he's wearing polkadot knickers under his toga!
Goudurix - the first rollercoaster in the world to have seven loop the loops, and if that weren't enough, it's almost entirely suspended above water! Definitely one for the fearless members of the group.
La Trace du Hourra - A bobsleigh ride that sends you down a pipe at over 40 mph
Menhir Express - A log flume ride with a few surprises along the way

There are loads of other rides for all of the family and specifically for kids. There are also four or five water rides, plenty of live action shows and a dolphin and seal show that is simply brilliant.

The queues are nowhere near as bad as at Disneyland Paris, but bear in mind that Wednesdays are as busy as weekends, as this is traditionally a day off school in France

Summary: If you're over five, this is a more enjoyable day out than Disney!

I like the sound of this attraction especially the shorter queues!
