Disney's Typhoon Lagoon
Advantages: Loads of places to lay and take in the sun
Disadvantages: Some of the lines do get very long.
Typhoon Lagoon is Walt Disney Worlds 2nd water park. It was opened June 1989 and replace Disney River Country which was closed due to water regulations and other issue with the park.
The story around Typhoon Lagoon is well known. A Typhoon that wreaked havoc upon a formerly pristine tropical paradise. Ships, fishing gear, and surfboards are strewn about where the storm flung them. Miss Tilly (a shrimp boat) was carried by the Typhoon and left atop the mountain. The parks' mascot is named "Lagoona Gator" who is related to Blizzard Beach's mascot Ice Gator.
Miss Tilly is the icon of the park. She is also the centrepiece of the park. She is impaled upon a mountain named "Mount Mayday" that erupts a 50-foot (15 m) geyser of water every half hour, right before the bells of the watch sound on Miss Tilly.
The park is most famous for having the biggest inland wave pool in America and once the world. The wave machine can produce 6 ft waves every couple of minutes. Before the park opens the wave pool is also used for surfing practice.
The newest attraction here is Crush 'n' Gusher. This is a Water coaster where two to three person rafts are propelled by water jets through hairpin turns and drop-offs. The ride has 3 tracks so you will never be board with this ride. My hint on this ride is also keep your bum off the floor as it hurts if you catch it.
The park has a 2,100ft lazy river that goes round the edges of the park. When swimming around listen out for the sound of the wave pool.
If you like snorkelling, try Shark Reef. Snorkel through a saltwater reef populated with stingrays, bonnethead, leopard sharks and tropical fish. All the equipment is provided free of charge which is very good as most parks charge extra.
For the kids they have Ketchakiddee Creek an area dedicated for children with water fountains and slides.
This park has loads of space for sunbathers and has perfect white sand beaches. The above is just a small number of slides and pools to enjoy. This is the perfect park to unwind and relax or try out things you have never done before. It is worth the $40 entrance fee any day.
Summary: Well worth a visit
