Advantages: a wide variety of attractions, not just for the thrill-seekers

Disadvantages: a few cuts and scrapes are inevitable, so bring plasters!

I recently visited Typhoon Lagoon for the first time. Having never been to any sort of water park before, I really didn't know what to expect. I'm not very adventurous with theme park rides, and extreme sports, but even I was able to have a wonderful time. I tried the Humunga Kowabunga, an extremely high and fast water chute, and the Crush 'n Gusher (a water roller-coaster!). They weren't really my cup of tea, as I found them a little too extreme. My boyfriend, however, loved them, along with all the other more extreme attractions. The wave pool was great fun, and Castaway Creek, the long lazy river that gently carries you in a big circle around the entire park in a giant rubber ring, was absolutely wonderful - I could have stayed on it all day! The snorkelling area was fascinating, with all sorts of interesting sharks, stingrays, etc.

This water park is an absolute must if you are in the Disney area. It's very different to the theme parks, as you aren't bombarded with all the usual disney memorabilia everywhere. You really have the choice of relaxing in the sandy-beach areas or on castaway creek, or getting a thrill on some extremely exhilarating rides.

You leave all your belongings in lockers, so you are free to roam the park in just your swimsuit. I left my flip-flops in my locker, as you cannot take them with you on any of the rides. the floors were kept clean and safe enough to go barefoot.

Summary: fantastic place, definitely worth a visit if you have a day to spare in orlando.
