Advantages: So much to do - Suited at all ages - Clean & Friendly

Disadvantages: The queue's

I've been to Universal Studio's once, when I was about 12 and all I can say is "wow!". I enjoyed Universal a lot more than I liked Disney as it was more grown-up. I went to America and visited Disneyland as well as Universal Studios with my family and me and my brothers and sisters were all roughly the same age, so enjoyed Universal the most. I remember seeing clips of Universal Studios advertising on TV and it always looked good, but in real-life, it is 100% times better.

Universal Studios has two theme parks - "Universal Studios" and "Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure". If I remember rightly, Islands of Adventure was my favourite park, purely because of the rides they had there. The parks are both situated in Orlando, Florida with hundreds of hotels nearby to choose from.

* Islands of Adventure: Universal Studios *

There are five different islands in the Islands of Adventure where all your favourite myths, legends, comic books, cartoon heroes and children's stories can come to life on the best rides and attractions ever. There are roller coasters and 3-D shows which are truly amazing.

In 2009, they plan on opening a theme park within a theme park which has a Harry Potter theme to it.

* Universal Studios *

Universal Studios is a Film and TV based theme park. The theme park gets you involved with behind the screens and also gets you involved in the action of your favourite films and cartoons. This year, the Simpson's will have a new attraction in the theme park.

* Cost *

For a full week admission to both parks, it will cost as little as $85.99 each. I think this is excellent value as it works out at roughly £43.00. this may seem quite dear to some but by purchasing your tickets this way, you end up saving money. Also, you won't be able to view the whole park(s) in a day or two as they are so big and you will no doubt want to see everything!

* Accommodation *

There are hundreds of hotels located next to these parks including Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and the Royal Pacific Resort, all of which are a high standard. However, the cost of these hotels due to their location and standard tend to be more expensive than others further away.

* Other Attractions *

As well as going on the rides, there are also many shops in the theme parks and surrounding area, restaurant's for you to eat, nightlife, entertainment and one of the world's most famous Cinema's is located in Universal Studios. There are a number of events throughout the year, especially at Halloween etc.

* Opening Hours *

In the winter months, the Park isn't open as long as it is during the day and sometimes certain rides will be shut due to weather conditions. However, the park is open longer in the summer months and the weather rarely effects the rides.

* Parking *

There are a number of car parks for both theme parks which are well lit and directed. Try and remember where you parked though as there are thousands and thousands of parked cars, so it is easy to forget where your car is!

* My Opinion *

Now that you have read some of the basic information about the Park, you might be tempted to go if you were slightly interested before! I loved the park but don't think I could go there for a whole week as some may do. By the end of the day, your feet will be killing you after all the walking as the park really does go on for miles. The atmosphere there is lovely and more grown up than the Disney parks. The park is nice and clean and you rarely see any rubbish lying about. The Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and go out of your way should you need their assistance.

There is so much to do at the park, you are spoilt for choice and there is something for everyone. There is disabled access for those that need it. Also, there are ice cream stalls, burger vans, restaurants, vending machines dotted around the park in case you get peckish and during the summer months, you really will need to drink a lot of liquids.

I think it is a brilliant price for what you get and many theme parks that aren't even as close to the standard of this one charge an extortionate price. I think this park is aimed at those slightly older i.e. teenagers and adults. Where as Disney is aimed at young children.

Summary: A fun experience

It is aimed as a whole at older kids and adults but our favourite area was ironically "Cat in the Hat" in IOA!
