Advantages: Something for everyone
Disadvantages: Long queues that aren't sheltered from the heat
I admit it - i am a theme park junkie - the scarier the ride, the happer I am.
I have visited this park twice in recent years with my parents, brother and my partner. My mum, unlike me, does not enjoy scary rides at all. Universal has fa fewwer scary rides than it's sister across the lake, Island of Adventure. AS we were visiting both parks in one day however we all purchased a Universal Express Plus pass. There are a limited number of passes available each day and they are often sold out in advance. The cost of the pass varies based on what parks are selected and even what day is selected, with higher prices charged on peak operating days during the year. The passes provide the user with the ability to skip right to the front of the queues. Perfect when one of you doesn't want to ride but doesn't want to be left alone for the 2 hour wait that can entail on the bigger rides.
The passes were also fantastic for water rides. Instead of the usual, go on, get soaked, dry off, go on another, get soaked... You could go on them all one after another meaning that you were only really wet the once.
Universal queues, as previsouly mentioned, are notoriously long and unlike Disney parks, the queues are not well sheltered meaning you the wait can get quite hot and uncomfortable. Another advantage of the passes.
The rides at the park are fantastic - my favourites included Shrek 4D, Terminator 2: 3D (my dad didn't realise this was 3D despite the name and got a big of a shock the first time on this one), revenge of the mummy, Men in Black Alien Attack (family fun all round) and ET where at the end ET will say your name!!
The park was very clean, user friendly and has a wide variety of food and drink to be purchased (although this can get expensive - top tip freeze a bottle of water overnight and take this with you, you'll save a small fortune!). Merchandise can also be purchased with something for everyone!
I would definately recommend this and it's sister park - Island of Adventure to anyone who enjoys fun!
Summary: A great theme park aimed at the whole family
