Advantages: Huge amounts of fun

Disadvantages: Tad expensive inside

This is better than Disney. Now I like my films but Universal Studios really did top the list of great activities. The rides simulate adventures from films and are constantly updated. When i went the Jurassic Park ride had just been added and although it started out quite slowly it finished with a very mad verticle drop into a lake which soaks you. Major fun. Then there are other rides that are great fun like the Back to the Future exhibit where you are placed in a replica car and a screen in front simulates an adventure while the car rocks. Live shows happen several times daily, again i went 5 years ago to the california one and they were doing Waterworld and The Blues Borthers but they were both exhilerating. On top of all this there are buildings dedicated to history of the cinema including Alfred Hitchcock and others. This is a must for any film fans and any one else who likes a good laugh.
I went more recently to the Florida version, 2 years ago, and in my opinion it was better than California. The rides cater for the same taste in excitment although i was only there for a couple of hours so am not quite as familiar with it.
Access is great for the disabled too.
Tip:Take you own food and/or drink if you are on a shoestring budget as these items are pretty dear inside.
