Advantages: Various animals. Tour bus. Can drive your own car on site. Nice greenspace.

Disadvantages: Cost. Difficult for youngsters to view crowded demonstrations.

It appears the last review about Whipsnade was getting on in age a bit, so I thought I'd leave my thoughts on the park as we visited it only a few months ago.

I was very impressed with the zoo. It's cleverly laid out like a safari park. You can even drive your own vehicle on paved roads within the park without fear a monkey will rip off your radio antenna. Though the extra cost and constant waiting for pedestrian (human AND animal) traffic makes this option a waste. Just park outside the zoo and walk the five minutes to the gate.

The selection of animals is impressive. Of course the big cats are there and so are the strange little critters, but a large emphasis seems to be on grassland herbivores. It's really in keeping with the safari atmosphere, but these latter animals aren't my favourites.

We took the pushchair friendly bus around the park to save our legs. This service is free and the kids liked it.

Of course the usual alotment of canteens are available if you like paying for expensive cafeteria food. But if you can carry a lunch in, the greenspace is extensive and on a nice day it's lovely to lounge out. A peacock might even come in close for a visit.

As a fun and educational day out, this is worth your money despite the price.

Summary: Safari-like zoo. Great for the whole family.

Thanks Collingwood, I've tried to do that with my subsequent reviews.

Your two questions (cost and opening times) are easily answered with a visit to the official Whipsnade site or even via a cost-comparison site (LIKE DOOYOO...YEEEHA).

I tried to give the shnazzy inside scoop. Everything John Q. Whipsnade didn't want you to know and you were afraid to ask!

This was a nice summary of your visit, but it is a good idea when writing a travel review to try and put yourself in the position of someone who might visit this attraction, and then think about what they would want to know. To start off with, I would like to know where it is, how much it is going to cost to go in, and when it is open. :-)
