Zante Water Village (Sarakinado, Greece)
Advantages: Short Queue Time
Disadvantages: Cafe was a bit pricey
The Water Village in Zante is a must visit in my opinion if you are holidaying in Zante. Water Parks are my kind of thing, so it was right at the top of the to do list when I recently visit the small Greek Island. The Water Park is situated in the small village of Sarakindo which is around about 4km from the capital Zante Town, 9km from the party resort of Laganas and 8km from the family and couple friendly resort Kalamaki.
You can make your way to the Water Park either by booking through one of the many tour operators or if you have transport, you can make your own way there. I used a company called myTours and paid 19 euro for transport to the Water Park plus entry.
The Water Park has attractions suitable for all ages. The rides are separated into a number of towers. There is the Thrill Tower, which has a large Kamikaze slide as the main attraction. There is a Family Tower, which has slides which allow you to race ones another, these are suitable for both children and adults. There is Extreme Tower and the Boomerbowl Tower which was my personal favourite. The Boomerango Plus slide was the most exciting and most surprising for me and it was how I started and finished my day.
All the rides offered something different and there was a mixture of solo ride slides, slides that required a rubber ring or mat or slides that required two people. As well as the Boomerbowl, I loved the slides where you could race one another. My competitive side definitely was on show here and my girlfriend was in the bad books when she beat me (I still maintain it was a false start).
There are other attractions such as the lazy river. Grab and ring and relax as you are slowly pushed around a river. There is also a reception pool which has a jacuzi and a pool bar which played some lively music. There was also a Children's Tower and Pool, which I thought I was a bit old to be trying out.
The Water Park has all the areas manned with lifeguards to ensure that everyone enjoys themselves in a safe manner. There are also a number of photographers taking pictures of your day which you can then gain copies off from the souvenir shop. They can put the picture on a t-shirt, mug or key ring for you too.
There are also a couple of eateries, which were a bit pricey, but that is expected in the sort of place that it is.
~Opening Hours and Prices~
The Park has 3 different opening periods. May and October the park is open 10:00 - 17:00. June and September it is open 10:00 - 17:30 and July and August sees the park open 10:00 - 18:00.
Admission is 18 euro for Adults and 14 euro for Children. Enterance to the park after 14:30 sees a 4 euro reduction in the price. 10% discount also applies to groups over 10 people. Children under 4 are admitted free or charge.
I had a smashing day out and even the pricey eateries weren't enough to spoil the day out. I visited in the 1st two weeks in August which peak season and the queues were never too long either. Definitely gets my recommendation.
