I wasn't sure about zoos, the last one I went to a few years ago wasn't very clean or well maintained and I just felt really sorry for the animals. The last thing they should be seen to do is to exploit animals for entertainment. Also, given that Spain is hardly well known for its fair attitude towards animal rights, I was a little bit hesitant about visiting "Zoo Aquarium de Madrid". Luckily, Madrid Zoo was nothing like my expectations, it was clean, well maintained and every possible step was taken to ensure the safety and comfort of the animals.
