Disasterous trip to Alton Towers (Alton Towers (Staffordshire))
Member Name: tracethereader
Advantages: Lots of rides, kids will love it, plenty to do, good places to eat Disadvantages: cost, q's, lack of care for safety I have visited Alton Towers a few times over the years, & have to say that for a day out, it was always pretty good. Even when you weigh up the cost ( which is not cheap ) there is more than enough rides to pack in the whole day..although you will be faced with terrible q's & fast track tickets so that you have people getting on in front of you even when you have been standing for ages!Places to eat are all around but again not cheap, but you expact to pay on a day out.Very geared up to pack em in & get em off the rides is what we found on our last visit... I went on a ride called the black hole ( which i beleive is now closed) my self & my partner crammed into a car as the attendent had instructed, & I told her that I needed to get out as my leg was absolutely jammed against the safety barrier. She did not let me off & wouldn't raise the barrier..even when I shouted at her, she refused & the ride started.( I have since found out theat this has been the case with a good few people, not least two friends who are both over 6'tall being told that if they wanted to go on to a ride they would need to share a seat!..One who had to threaten to smack the attendant if he did't let him off!..You can imagine 2 guys, one 6' and one 6'5 cramming into a small cart) As the ride jolted i had the most amazing pain shoot through my back, hip & leg as my sciatic nerve trapped,I had my 12 year old daughter & her friend watching me TRY to walk to the first aid office in agony as her birthday treat, & spent the rest of the day not being able to do anything & 3 years later still have problems with it..even went as far as going to a solicitor, but Alton Towers refused to admit responsability...it seems that they are interested only in money ..not safety..You have been warned! Summary: Not so caring family theme park! |
