Advantages: Great rides

Disadvantages: Massive queues

Having been to Alton towers a gizzilion times, i felt it necessary to write my view on it :)

There are many perks to the theme park, such as the thrilling rides, which are unarguably some of the best in the UK. The range of ages the park is aimed at is also a great feature; making it fun for the whole family. The beautiful scenery is another of the great factors, and the large, picturesque gardens are open at all times to roam around, giving the park a difference from many others.

On the down side, the prices have gradually risen over the years, to the point where you can pay up to £35 for an adults ticket and £26 for a childrens ticket. The family tickets are £118, which isnt exactly cheap...

However, there always seems to be discounts and offers around, and if you visit www.lastminute.com you can get tickets considerably cheaper. The hotel that was recently built has put a whole new spin on things, but once again, the prices are a little steep.

One other thing that should really be mentioned is the astronmical queues that emerge in Alton towers. It's a popular theme park, and for that, we all have to pay the price. Last summer i remember queuing 3 hours to go on a Rita; a ride that lasts all of 1 minute or so...

I you're planning on going to Alton towers, i would definitely suggest going at a time that most others are working eg a random day off work/school, as this may help dodge the ridiculously long waiting times.

Also, if you arent local, you may find it a little difficult to find where it's situated, there are a lot of windey roads, and it seems to be out the way...

If you've never been, its definitely worth going though...some of the rides are whole new experiences!

Summary: Good park, shame about the long queues and extortionate prices though.
