Advantages: Good White Knuckle Rides

Disadvantages: Expensive, Long queues in the summer

Alton Towers is probably the best theme park in the UK. There are a number of great white knuckle rides such as Nemesis, Air and Oblivaian but also lots of rides and attractions for those who prefer a slightly calmer day!
It is a little bit of a hassle to get to as you have to drive though quite a lot of villages between there and the motorway and it takes quite a while. In the summer holidays it is also crazy busy and sometimes you can queue up to 2 hours to go on a ride. My advice would be to go early or late in the season to minimize this.
The food is alright for a theme park with the usual fast food outlets, as expected most food is pretty expensive so I would personally advise taking food with you. The staff can also be a little less than friendly too, especially when it's cold or raining - saying that though some of the staff are lovely, especially those on the children's rides.
It's pretty expensive to get in but they usually have BOGOF offers running with promotional partners so that softens the blow a little.

Summary: A good, if expensive, day out!
