Advantages: Rides to suit all ages, lots of places to eat and drink

Disadvantages: Really bad queues during school holidays

Alton Towers theme park is one of Britains most popular theme parks. Based in close to the Staffordshire village of Alton, it has beautiful gardens and suroundings.

There is a lot of parking provided at Alton Towers, both for cars and coaches. Some of the car parks are far away from the park, but a monorail is provided for ease of transport to the park. Just make a note of which block you are in for when you leave!

The park is set out into several different themed sections. One being Uggland - a cave man themed section including the Corkscrew roller coaster. There are rides to suit many different people, ranging from the white knuckle Oblivion - to the kiddies Squirrel nutkin ride.

Alton towers also provides lots of places to eat and drink, with kiosks selling drinks and ice cream throughout the park and several McDonalds, KFC and Pizza huts.

There are very bad queues during school holidays, so i would suggest getting as many of the fast track passes as possible.

Summary: Good day out, one of the better theme parks in the country
