Advantages: fast and fun

Disadvantages: price!

Alton Towers is a theme park, owned by the Tussauds group based in Staffordshire. From London can take up to 4 and a half hours to drive if roads are bad which is daunting, but if you live in Derby of which i now do, its around 20 minutes woop!

Alton Towers has hotels for the people coming from afar, these are splash landings and the alton towers hotel. Both rather pricey. Much cheaper to stay in Stoke in a travel lodge or premier Inn. As a family we used to rent a farm house for approx £50 per night. If you can find farm houses these may be better deals for the family, and a good way to discover some of the staffordshire countryside too!

TICKET PRICES
On the door for an adult £37, online £29.50. Very expensive. Newspapers and supermarkets are always giving out 2 4 1 entry tickets for the tussauds group. I would not bother unless you have a voucher, You'll spend £30 more than you need too! thats silly! just get the SUN, or tesco was handing out tis year, all valid untill the close of season, which this year is 1st November.
Childrens price is £28 on door £22.50 online. Still well worth having a voucher!

THRILL SEEKERS
Alton towers is the best UK theme park for thrill seekers. There is AIR, this is a roller coaster where you are laid down experiencing the thrill.Its wkd if your right at the front, as you cant seeother peoples feet and you get the thrill of being superman.
The BLADE is a swinging pirate ship, it makes you stomach very queasy!
ENTERPRISE is alike a ferris wheel gone a bit mental. You sit in a pod, nothing holding you in and it spins and the gravity hold you in.I find this ride horrificc, i scream alot! Lots of adrenalin if your a scardy cat like me !
NEMISIS the website says "This intense ride takes you over rivers of blood and rock, reaching G-forces greater than a space shuttle launch." I say its awesome, great, fast ad thrilling i love it!
OBLIVION the website says "Face your fears. You know you shouldn't look down, but you won't be able to stop yourself taking a peek at the colossal vertical drop". I say scary, dont look down. Its over very fast, but leaves you pumping full of adrenalin!
RITA is fast, very fast, 0-100 in 2.5 seconds fast! Dont put your head forward, you will hurt your neck. This ride is hard, there are no loops etc but the speed is intense! I love it!
RIPSAW - I have never been on, the website says "Take your seat aboard this ride, and wait to see if you're lucky enough to stay dry. The water rises and falls as you swing around in and out of the fountains."
SUBMISSION looks horrid, one of them pointless rides that throws you about, the website says "This mind-blowing ride will have you rocking, rotating and leave you hanging vertically." I say no thanks.

FAMILY RIDES
*congo river rapid are a family favourite, a trip down a crazy river. you will get wet!
*duel - this a haunted house but gone mental. Your given a gun and you have to shoot the monsters! You get a score at the end, its great fun, and funny watching people compete and go a little mental!
*HEX - bit boring, your sat in a room with a tree trunk which makes you feel your upside down. snore,
*the runaway mine train is an old school family favourite. Not too fast for the young ones!
*Spin ball whizzer, the concept is a roller coaster but the cart spins like a pin ball. Not too fast, suitable for kids, does not go upside down.
* the flume, you will get wet! do not sit at the front as you'll get a mouth full! yuk! watch out for the massive duck!
*the nutty squireel up high in the trees take a trip to see where the squirrels live. I used to love this ride!
*The Beastie - a small roller coaster for the young uns!
*Charlie and the chocolate ride - dont waste your time if your not going with kids. But the youngsters love it! a boat ride followed by the elevator!

There are many more rides which are all similar to other theme parks, inc driving school, frog hopper, tractor rides, carousels!

Alton towers really does have something for everyone interms of rides, its great!

FOOD
there are lots of different places to eat all over the theme park! fast food and mini restaurants. You'll never go hungry. Prices are not too expensive, although drinks etc in the shop are! However you can buy a cup for $4.99 which you can refill for free all day, do nt loose the receipt!

THE GARDENS
Personally i get a bit bored, but my parents like to have a relacing walk here. You can take the kids and have a picnic!

Alton towers makes a great day out! Do not miss out on the adventure!
