Advantages: Clean, safe, beautiful environment with fantastic rides.

Disadvantages: Queues.

I recently visited Alton Towers for the first time with a party of 65 school children from Glasgow. The journey was a bit gruelling (we left at 3.30am), but the park was well worth the early rise!

The staff are very friendly and genuine, even though they have probably been asked the same question 5,000 times previously. The gardens are beautiful and obviously well maintained, and the distinct lack of litter was very refreshing. All the facitilies were clean, and the numerous food outlets very reasonably priced.

The rides were magnificent, although I queued on average 40 minutes for everything, and that was not considered a busy day. Nemesis is breath-taking, and yes, believe the hype!

I would particularly like to rave about the check-in system for school children, where the teachers register with the medical centre and telephone in every hour from any staff 'phone to see if any children have reported to the centre with a problem. No longer do the teachers have to keep a round the clock vigil at the 'designated meeting point' - bliss!

A wonderful day was had by all and I will definitely be returning soon!
