Advantages: Lots of fantastic rides

Disadvantages: Long distaces to walk and sometimes queues

Of all the theme parks in the UK that I have visited, and believe me that is quite a lot as I am a thrill seeker!, I reckon Alton Towers is easily the best. Nemesis for one is the only ride of its type, a suspended rollercoaster, in the UK. These are my favourite type of rollercoasters because they are such a smooth ride. I have to add though that there are other rollercoasters like this in America, The Montu in Busch Gardens, Tampa, Florida, for example, that are far better than Nemesis. But in terms of the UK Nemesis is one of the best rides. Now Nemesis used to be my favourite ride at Alton Towers until they added Oblivion which I believe to be the only ride of its kind. Oblivion is just an amazing experience and my only complaint is that the drop is over in a few seconds and then you have to queue up all over again which can be up to an hour and sometimes more. That would be another complaint I have about Alton Towers - the queue lengths - but then most theme parks have that problem. Although last time I visited Alton Towers they were introducing virtual queueing which was reducing the queue lengths which was definitely a good thing but I don't know how that is running now. There are plently of other good rides at Alton Towers. I am not that keen on The Black Hole, which is another rollercoaster, as it tends to be more of a painful experience rather than a fun one due to the rough ride. The same is true of The Corkscrew, another rollercoaster! As you can probably tell rollercoasters are my favourite rides as I tend to get motion sick on other more "spinning around" rides. There are also some good water rides at Alton Towers including a log flume and river rapids which are always good fun but better in the summer, when we actually get any here!! Another highlight is The Ripsaw. That replaced the two other rollercoasters - The Thunder Looper and The Beast. There are more rides at Alton Towers and it is definitely a fun packed day. The park is pretty
spread out and you have to walk long distances between rides or you can get cable cars. I tend to walk as the cable cars scare me! There is loads to do though and sometimes you can't fit it all into one day. I would definitely recommend giving Alton Towers a visit. As I said in my opinion it is the best theme park in the UK.
