Advantages: Great variety of rides

Disadvantages: Queues!!!

I have to admit that up until a few weeks ago, I had never visited Alton Towers before because I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to scary rides. However, I have to say that I really enjoyed myself despite having to spend most of the day queuing. My friends showed me no mercy as the first ride they dragged me on was the Nemesis which I managed to survive okay (doesn’t last very long, does it?) and after that I felt I could go on anything - which I did!! Being a hot day, the most popular rides (with the longest queues) were the water rides such as the Log Flume, Rapids and the Ripsaw which I particularly enjoyed as I discovered that I do quite like being turned upside down! We managed to have a go on most things as we were there as soon as it opened and left at 6:30pm when it was near closing time.

Most people complain about the food being expensive but we went to McDonalds where the food was exactly the same price as other McDonalds I’ve visited. I imagine it was similar with KFC too. Granted these places may not be to everyones taste but we were so hungry that the grass was beginning to look appetising!

Even though I enjoyed my day and there are very good rides, there are also rides that are a waste of time such as the Haunted House and don’t even bother going to the 3D Cinema as it wasn’t very good and was soooooo hot in there! If you are pushed for time then I wouldn’t recommend taking the Cable Cars to the other side of the park (unless your feet are really sore or you have children with you) because they take forever. I was a bit disappointed that I never got the chance to try out Oblivion as it had broken down but after hearing this, my new found braveness had gone and I was secretly relieved anyway!!

It is a good day out but at £20.00 is quite expensive, especially if there is a family going but most people had "buy one get one free" vouchers which makes it much cheaper. The queu
es were terrible - really, really long and sometimes after queuing for nearly two hours, the rides can be a bit of a let down when you finally get on them. Rides like the Black Hole and Energiser had the smallest queues but were surprising quite good - I’d definitely recommend the Black Hole!

Alton Towers is a place that everyone has to visit at sometime in their life as it certainly is an experience. Apparently, my Alton Towers II trip is being scheduled for September and this time they are making me go on the Oblivion!!!

I went last bank holiday Monday and was expecting huge Qs but the longest one was for Nemesis and was only 20 mins. Oblivion is absolutely amazing but does have a tendency to break down, even when you are on the ride. The first time I went on we got stuck for 20 mins on the bit that hangs over the drop and I was terrified. I have been on about 10 times since but everytime we go up i cross everything that we won't get stuck. Go on it you will ove it - it is the best ride I ave ever been on!

One thing that winds me up about theme parks, you queue for 40 minutes plus for a ride which lasts 3 minutes!

No, I'm just a sad person with nothing better to do :)
