I recently visited Alton Towers for the first time with a party of 65 school children from Glasgow. The journey was a bit gruelling (we left at 3.30am), but the park was well worth the early rise! The staff are very friendly and genuine, even though they have probably been asked the same question 5,000 times previously. The gardens are ... Read the complete review

I have visited Alton Towers a total of about 5 times. As a rollercoaster enthusiast since I was 6, I am very interested in rollercoasters and enjoy riding them very much. Alton Towers have 2 world class rollercoasters, both manufactured by Bollinger + Mabillard, named Oblivion + Nemesis. The Oblivion was a world-first ride when it opened in ... I live 10 mins from Alton Towers and I agree that it can ruin your day if you spend it queueing. However, Alton towers produce a leaflet which tells you which are their peak and quieter times and last year we took their advice and went on a 'moderate' day - a steamy Bank Holiday Sunday in August!! We arrived at opening time and the place ... Read the complete review

Only go to Alton Towers if you have never been there before since the good rides were built or if you are under 7 years old. This is really poor if you want some amazing roller coasters go to Blackpool Pleasure Beach or Southport Pleasure Land. Blackpool has the best woodies and Southport has a Steel Twister (Nemesis Style only better) and an ... Read the complete review

Alton Towers is a great day out so long as you choose the 'right' time to go ie out of school holidays. The park encompasses beautiful gardens as well as a good mixture of rides, both for adults and children. In my opinion, the best ride in the park is 'Ripsaw' - so long as it is a warm day or you don't mind getting ... Read the complete review

Alton Towers id the premier theme park in the country. It puts to shame contenders like Thorpe Park, and Chesington. The thing about Alton Towers is the schere scale of it. Okay so compared to some of the Amercian ones I'm sure it is tiny, but for the UK it is hudge. There is something for everyone here, if you want white ... Read the complete review

Alton Towers is the most popular tourist attraction in the UK so the key is to go when it is not too busy. If you go at the weekend, bank holiday or when the schools are shut then you will not get your money's worth - £20 will only get you 2 or 3 rides on the top attractions. But go on say a Tuesday, and you'll find no queue ... Read the complete review

I've been to Alton Towers twice and the thing that hit me both times I've been is the size of it! It is enormous. Like I said I have been twice and I still haven't managed to go on all the rides! Alton Towers is for all ages even if you don't really like theme parks and white knuckle rides you can go for a ride on the boats on swan ... Read the complete review

I called this opinion Faulty Towers because Alton Towers is a big joke. It's only got 5 decent rides and they're a bit iffy. I mean Oblivion takes 5 seconds and they say it's dead scary, yeah right. The queues are well too long. You pay £20 to wait in a line all day and if you are lucky, you may get to experience 2 or 3 rides. Your ... Read the complete review

I visited Alton Towers in April. I had been advised by friends that to visit in the summer or during school holidays would mean huge queues...for everything! Arriving as soon as the park opened is very good advice, for the first hour or so, there were virtually no queues at all for any of the rides, but shortly afterwards there ... Alton Towers is traditionally seen as a theme park, but it also encompasses garden and a huge hotel that you can stay in to visit the rides. Entry for one day to gardens and rides is about £20, so quite pricey, but if you live/are staying nearby you can buy a 2nd day's pass for £9 more. A season pass for a year, also getting you entry to ... Read the complete review

As everyone knows, Alton Towers is the biggest and best theme park in Britain and now they've brought out a new feature for 2000, the enigmatically titled Hex. If you've looked at there website then you'll be well aware of the way they are trying to make it so much more than a ride by incorporating an old tale of curses and mysterious ...
