Advantages: family day out
Disadvantages: can get boring
A family outings to Blackpool in the summer is always a cheap way to have a nice day out. However, this year I don’t really want to go, and might try the other seas side resorts like Southport or go to the Lake District instead.
Blackpool is a nice place to visit, but it can become rather boring. It would help if the beach was clean, and the water not dirty. The rides are really good, and a book of tickets can last you all day long. But, my husband doesn’t like rides, so I always feel that he’s being left out.
This summer when we went, my daughter had a ride on donkey and she enjoyed that a lot, much more than the rides. Personally, having been on ‘The Big One’ and most of the other top rides, there’s nothing exciting, However, we always go to see the illumination, which are always brilliant each year. The rides are covered with lights and it looks really good.
For anyone who hasn’t been to Blackpool I would certainly recommend it, it’s a family day out. It’s quite easy to get to, just follow the motorway to Fleetwood and turn off somewhere, the signs are pretty clear. Parking is really good and it won’t take you ages finding a place, but try to come early otherwise it will be a problem. All the signs outside houses it says no parking and if you do park you could get fines, so be careful.
The good thing about Blackpool is that entry is free, so unlike Alton Towers where you have to pay, even if you don’t want to go on the rides, you can still get into the ride section. Safety is generally very good, however this year there was a death where a small boy was killed. With height restrictions and clear warnings not to go on the rides if you’re pregnant, have back pain or suffer from a heart disease.
Take your own food, as it’s very expensive. A nice picnic is what we always have. Overall a good theme park, worth the visit if you haven’
;t been, but for some of us who go a lot, a change will be good this summer.
