Advantages: great fun
Disadvantages: can get very busy
During our stay at Alton Towers we also purchased the Waterpark tickets, although we were not sure if we would use them. However I am glad we did as we had a brilliant time. There was 3 of us all together all aged in our mid 20's and we had a fantastic time. The pool area is extremely big and a lot of variety for all ages. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was extremely packed, which did start to cause a problem when we wanted to go on the flumes as we had to queue for rubber rings for around 20 minutes and then queue again to get on the flumes. Obviously if it was less packed this would have worked well but with all the rubber rings in use we only got to go on each flume once. They were definitely worth the wait though. The best Flume has to be the Master Blaster water Coaster, which takes you all the way round the park high up above everything else. There was also an outside area, which was also very good, with various flumes taking you down to the bottom of the pool. We went at the end of September so it was pretty cold outside but the water was kept at a warm temperature so the cold was not an issue. There is also a children's water play area, which looked great fun for the younger kids.
The only thing I would say is they should open the pool later. It currently stays open one hour after the park closes which by the time you have got from the park back to the hotel is too late to then go for a swim. This would be good to keep it open longer as there is nothing else to do in the hotel once the park has closed and would mean you do not have to miss out on park time to go to the water park.
There are plenty of lockers and changing rooms as well as a large shower area and heat booths (which you have to pay for). The lockers are also £2, but you get £1 back after use.
The cost of the Water park is £16.50 each, although we got it slightly cheaper as we were staying the hotel, but I feel it is definitely worth the cost, it's a great Waterpark.
Overall I think this waterpark is great fun and a must do for everyone. Although beware the food is quite expensive in here so maybe wait until after swimming to grab something to eat.
Summary: a must do whilst in the area
