My mum is a bit young at heart, as we probably all are deep down. For Christmas last year my step dad bought her a voucher that allowed her to be a zookeeper for the day at London Zoo...I was suitably jealous of course. Its not great to do that kind of thing with no one to share it with however so I decided to go along and see if I could take some pictures of her doing animal stuff during her day out. As it happened a lot of her activities were behind the scenes and they were in a group so they took most of her photos and I just got a day out at London Zoo with my friend. The admission prices are already expensive at £13 per adult, £10 per child, but then the ticket sellers force you to pay an extra £1.50 'optional donation'. It's hard to stand up to them to avoid this 'donation'. Car parking is expensive at £9. (Note that the prices at £9 adults, £7 children shown at the top of the London Zoo review page are way out of date.) As a child, living in London, my Boyfriend was taken to London Zoo – the memory has stuck with him forever. As a result, I sweetly agreed to go with him for his birthday. I expected to be bored by listless or non-appearing animals as he wallowed in nostalgia but this couldn’t have been further from the truth. We had a fantastic day, London Zoo turning out to be an oasis of calm on a Friday in central London. The tranquil atmosphere combined with some very close up views of the animals was really achieving the impossible in what should be a very busy attraction. I was amazed how tame the animals were and how relaxed the whole experience ...
