Advantages: A good day out! :-)

Disadvantages: Although free admission, the extras are a little on the expensive side.

This place was recommended to me by a family friend who had taken his grandkids there after seeing it advertised.

Old Holly Farm is situated in Garstang in Lancashire, just off the A6. The first thing I will mention is that entrance to the farm is FREE, for all ages, although your not allowed to take your own food and drink (which is a little annoying as the food and drink inside are expensive) and entrance to the "playbarn" which is an indoor play area (like Wacky Warehouse) is £4 per child, or £10 for 3 children, £12 for 4 children. But if your only going for an hour and your not interested in the playbarn, then the farm is completely free.

The farm itself is reasonably small, and is predominantly a milking farm (which you can watch twice a day in the milking shed), but there are also pigs (Lucy the snoring Pig is hillarious!! She sounds like my dad when he's snoring away!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not the least bit ladylike!!) goats, horses, rabbits, chickens, lambs in spring. But I think what i like the most is the calfs...they're all lined up in their pens in a small shed where you can go along and feed them with special food for 50p a tub, they are sooo cute and slobber all over you...whcih isnt so cute!!!! But they're adorable little things and its always a treat!!

The farm was only recently turned into a visitor farm, and so I must admit you do get the impression they're still "getting on their feet", the animal population is only small, but they have alot of land which is "unused" and so there is room for expanding and maybe in the next few years they will.

The farm has a small cafe which serves snacks and coffees, teas and soft drinks. There is also a small shop next door to the cafe, whcih sells small gifts along with ice cream, and some gorgeous home made products, and home grown fruit and veg!

The cafe and shop are a little pricey, but the products are great quality, and well worth the prices you pay!!!!!

Old Holly Farm is a great day out, you can't really spend the whole day there as it is, but you can spend a good few hours looking around, especially if your eating there and using the playbarn!! :-D
