Advantages: Amazing rides, clean
Disadvantages: Long queing times, expensive
Thorpe Park is one of the main theme parks in the U.K. It is approximately 15 miles from Central London and provides a great day out for the whole family.
The tickets cost around £35 for an adult and £22 for children aged 4-11. Money can be saved by booking online, or group bookings.
In my opinion, Thorpe Park is currently the best theme park in England, with Alton Towers coming a close second. There are many thrilling rollercoasters which include; Saw, Nemesis inferno, Stealth and Colossus. However, there are other rides for the not so brave, including three water rides.
Saw is a ride which opened in 2009. It has a vertical drop from over a hundred feet and is one of the best rides I have ever sat on! Stealth is also a fairly new ride and opened in 2008. At the start of the ride, the speed will go from 0-80mph in under 2 seconds which is one of the best experiences in the park. These are the two most popular rides in the theme park. They are two completely different types of rollercoasters and provide an experience which I have never had at another theme park.
My personal favourite ride is Tidal wave, where you are guaranteed to get absolutely soaked! If you are planning to go to the theme park and sit on the ride, I would recommend going on this last as I have found that being wet for the rest of the day spoils the fun. In my opinion, Thorpe Park is mainly for thrill seekers aged 14+. There is a small section in the theme park for children, but there are only 3-4 rides in this section.
When I go to Thorpe Park, I always take some snacks and drinks with me. There are stores there which sell snacks, however they are extremely expensive, with a 500ml coke bottle costing more than £1.50.
The only major problem I have with the theme park is the queing times for the rides. For the more popular rides such as Saw and Stealth, I find that there is often a minimum of a 45 minute waiting time. In order to avoid this, I am always at the theme park by the opening time and would highly recommend others to do the same.
Overall, Thorpe Park is an absolutely fantastic theme park. If you are a thrill seeker and love sitting on rides, I would highly recommend going and can promise you will not be disappointed!
