Advantages: GOOD RIDES
Disadvantages: NOT THE SAME A SECOND TIME.
I recently visited Thorpe park theame park located just 10mins off the M25 J13 with my wife and 10-year-old son, this is the second time we have visited this park. It was a blisteringly hot day and as you can imagine, as this park is renowned for its water rides it was very busy. The car park is very large with parking attendants showing you where to park, it’s a good job really as without them, people would have parked just anywhere. In order to get in to the park there are 10 ticket kiosks or if you booked on line via the web site there is a dedicated kiosk were you can get your tickets. Once inside the park is split into 5 areas. The latest ride is the water ride TIDALWAVE which is a huge log flume with just one drop and when the boat hits the water at the bottom of this drop water goes everywhere and the people on the ride are absolutely drenched so if you go on this ride take a swimming costume to change into first and then change back into your dry clothes afterwards. Another must is the 4d film Pirates 4D which is brilliant, the effects are outstanding and there are also a few surprises, but as it is very popular I would advise people to see this film as soon as they get a chance. Other rides to mention are Thunder River (a trip down the rapids in rubber ring boat) X:\ no way out (a roller coaster in reverse and in the dark), loggers leap (the standard log flume but with a double drop at the end) and of course there are the rides for the younger and older less adventurous, there is even a beach and pool area for the kids. As you would expect, there are plenty of food outlets, all run by Burger King and KFC and the prices are the same as outside of the park, so you don’t get the feeling you are being ripped off. Earlier this year they had a fire in the park destroying a couple of the bigger rides but the ticket prices have been reduced to reflect the loss of these rides. Th
e park is very clean and all the staff are very pleasant and courteous, the park is open from 9.30am weekends / 10.00 weekdays and close anytime from 5.30 to 7.30pm depending on the time of year. Ticket prices are £12 for children and £16 for adults. As I said at the start of my opinion this is the second time I have visited this park and quite honestly it was not the same a second time around which was a shame, but I would recommend it to anyone who has not been there.

- 26/01/01 I've been there about 10 times since the early eighties.
Though I'm told I'd do the same at Chessington if I ever visit there. |
