Advantages: Brilliant day out for the family

Disadvantages: Expensive day out for all the family!!

I am fortunate enough to live only 3 miles from the West Midlands Safari Park so am a frequent visitor during the summer months and every visit turns me into a child again.

PRICES:
Admission to the park isn't cheap. You can purchase a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) for £40.00 or single prices are £11.50 adults, £10.50 children (under 3's are free), £10.50 for all disabled people with blue badges and students with student passes. The admission does include a free return ticket for a future date however be warned that amusement rides do come at an extra cost so a day out for a large family certainly isnt cheap but you do get a whole days entertainment. You can go around the animals by car as many times as you like and taking a picnic would save you some money as food isnt cheap either.

ANIMALS:
The Safari Park includes the usual suspects you would find at a park or zoo including giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, llamas, rhinos, wallabys, camels, several types of deer, gnus and wild dogs. You see these by driving around the park in your car (or a guided tour is available if required) and some animals can be fed by food purchased at the main entrance on your arrival - though beware - on my last visit i tried feeding a llama and it ignored the food in my hand & took the box out of the car and ate that instead - box and contents!! Admission also includes the sea lion show and admission to the reptile house which are within the amusement area you visit on foot.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS
Once you have driven around the animal reserves there is still plenty left to do. You can have a picnic in the specially designated area (or food and drinks can be purchased at the park though as said earlier it is not cheap). There is the usual gift and sweet shops to wander round, a small amusement arcade and a funfair. The recent addition of 'cubs kingdom' is a small area designed for younger children with rides and attractions including the interative Fire Rescue Rangers where children can pretend to be real firefighters - a real winner with my little one! The minimum height for the rides is 0.8m and these rides include a roller coaster, rapids (bring your waterproofs) the black fly, the twister coaster to name but a few.

FACTS:
West Midlands Safari Park is situated on the A456 between Kidderminster and Bewdley in Worcestershire. It covers over 100 acres and homes up to 600 animals in the reserves. More information on the park can be found on their website www.wmsp.co.uk or by phoning 01299 402114. The park is open from late February to November and from 10:00am to around 17:30 depending on the weather.

SUMMARY:
A really great educational family day out. Your children will learn loads at the same time as having amazing fun though with admission, food, wristbands and gifts it is certainly not a cheap day out though is one of the best days out you can get in this country. If you havent tried it before i thoroughly recommend it.

Summary: Well worth it in my opinion
