Advantages: Lots to do and keep children occupied

Disadvantages: Can get busy and costs money!

The review I am about to write is about the Xscape leisure complex in Castleford, near Leeds. It is an entertainment complex that provides numerous different activities to be enjoyed by people of all ages.

As soo as you walk up to the huge complex you can see a fairground outside, there are also lots of restaurants outside the complex, including Nandos, Burger king and Chiquitos to name but a few.

When you enter the complex the first ting that you see is an Ariel assault, this is made up of a climbing wall, rope bridges, a sky ride and many more activities, anyone from the age of 6+ can use this, so it is a great way to keep the children amused.

There are lots more restaurants and shops within the complex, there are a couple of surfing clothes shops, where they sell skiing and surfing equipment. There is a Frankie and Benny's and an Ask restaurant, plus many other different restaurants.

There is a large set of escalators immediately in front of you as you enter and at the top of these you will find a Cineworld cinema, this shows all the latest releases and even has a junior movie club, so children can visit for a reduced rate.

The Xscape complex also has a bowling alley, with an amusement arcade, so there are plenty of different options for children of all ages.

Other facilities within the complex are a snow slope for people wanting to practice their skiing, a skate park, a rock climbing wall, some of my friend are avid rock climbers and have used this wall in the past, they said that it is a great place to go and practice. There is a laser zone, dodgems, cosmic golf and even a soft play area for the younger children.

I think you can safely say that you could come here either by yourself or with the children and you could have a fun filled day out, with plenty of activities to keep you interested.

Whenever we have visited here it has always been busy, so be prepared for this. I once visited here on a Saturday night with my friends, we went bowling and were then going to have a meal afterwards. None of the restaurants in the complex take bookings on a Saturday, so it is a first come first served basis. All the restaurants were so busy that we would have had to wait over an hour to get a table, therefore we gave up waiting and headed to a restaurant closer to home. So I wouldn't recommend going there on a weekend for a nice meal. However I have eaten here a lot throughout the day and there has never been a wait, so I would recommend it at quieter times. There is plenty of car parking, so we have never struggled to find a space.

The address for this complex is: Xscape Castleford, Colorado way, Glasshoughton, Castleford, WF10 4TA. The website address is, www.xscape.co.uk

Summary: Somewhere to go on a rainy day
