Xscape Castleford (Leeds)
Advantages: Loads of different activities all under one roof
Disadvantages: if you are doing a lot of activities it could add up
Also an xscape in Milton Keynes and Glasgow
After having a moan to my friend about never doing anything at the weekend, she recommended I visit Xscape at Castleford. (There are also Xscapes at Milton Keynes and Glasgow). I had never heard of the place, but now I have I would recommend it to everyone. There are loads of different activities to do there, including cinema, bowling, skiing, ice slides, sledging, laser quest, rock climbing and gym (hopefully I haven't missed any). The activities we did were Aerial Assault and cosmic golf.
When organising the day I went onto the website which was helpful. On there there is a full list of the activities with prices etc. Unfortunately I couldn't find information on how to book so called the number. This was a typically frustrating automated message, and after about 4 different choices I worked my way through to the aerial assault. In the end I didn't book, as you have to pay in full (£8) per person.
On the day, looking up at the assault course we all thought it looked a little small, however when you are up there it certainly feels very high and the half hour that the course takes was plenty enough time for us. The instructor we had had a good sense of humour and had us doing extra things made it even scarier. It was a really good experience and I felt that £8 was reasonable.
The cosmic golf is a crazy golf course, set in a glow in the dark room. You are provided with glasses that make everything 3D. We found it really hard to actually play in the glasses, so took them off. But you should keep them on, as after we found out that if you wear the glasses things will 'jump' out at you.
It was a fun day and I look forward to returning and trying out the other activities.
Summary: A great day out for people with loads of different interests!
