Tigi Bedhead Superstar Queen For A Day Thickening Spray
by cazkins
I always seem to see good reviews for Tigi products but it's a mix of the high price and my dubiousness of hair product claims that puts me off trying them. I came across Superstar on Amazon when the larger spray was on offer for £8 and decided to use up a birthday voucher and give it a go as I was feeling desperate to get some volume ... back in my hair. Whilst I think it's decent and does 'do' something, it hasn't given me the luscious locks I could flick in a L'Oreal advert.
This comes in a rather large pinky purple can with a fairly minimalistic design, giving it a modern look that suggests it's a product you'd find in a salon. On the front this is described as a thickening spray, and as I've mentioned before in my last hairspray review, I'm always a bit dubious of claims like this and whether the product will actually live up to it.
Superstar Queen For A Day is designed to give volume/body to your hair, bring promoted as a thickening spray with an 'amplifying, lifting formulation'. The ingredients are supposed to improve the 'tensile strength of the hair', increasing 'elasticity' and thickens the hair for more volume. How does it do this? With the following :
- PVP/VA Copolymer - For elasticity and strength
- Carbomer - To thicken
- Palm Kernel Glycerides - To condition
To use, simply spay all over hair. It's that easy and straight forward. I do think it's probably more designed for fine to medium wet hair, but the product description online says that it can be wet or dry when used. I aim for the roots a little more and lift some sections of my hair up, thinking that doing it from underneath and towards the roots will provide more lift where it's needed. It gets an easy thumbs up for application as it's quite easy to spray on, taking just a few seconds to do before drying your hair or in the morning before going out when you want to put some boost in to dry hair. The bottle is quite large so that makes it slightly more awkward and less easy to carry around with you, but for the price, I wouldn't have wanted a smaller bottle!
It has quite a pretty, sweet fragrance which is described as 'berry medley', leaving me feeling like I've done something nice to take care of myself a little. It's not too sickly or overpowering either, just enough to be slightly noticeable after use for a while. I don't find it heavy on my hair which is good as some products can seem to 'chemically' for my liking, leaving hair feeling more limp than anything else. This is quite a fine mist that goes naturally in to hair and doesn't feel sticky as it dries quite quickly and isn't noticeable after (ie no colour, no white remnants etc).
This seems to leave my hair looking naturally lifted, but only marginally. As I said before, I don't tend to believe all of the claims on such products so I wasn't expecting miracles, however I must admit it's very nice to use. I love the scent, it's quick to apply, and it does seem to make some difference to the overall 'bounce' and volume to my hair, even if it's not a huge one. I wouldn't say the difference I notice lasts all day, but I do feel more confident with my hair after having used this because it does have that something 'special' about it that makes me feel like I've done something nice to look after myself, if that makes any sense. I'm not one for spending ages primping and pruning, so a quick routine is what I usually make do with. This is a great spray for adding a bit of natural bounce to my hair so that it doesn't look quite so dull or limp, and a nice fragrance to uplift my mood too. It's very pricey for what it is, but compared to similar products I've used, this is the only one that seems to have done something and that hasn't weighed down my hair.
It may not work for everyone, but if you have fine to medium hair and want a bit of a lift, then it's worth trying (especially if it's on offer or if you can grab a bargain on Ebay/Amazon as it's quite pricey).

Tigi Bed Head Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff
by sparkle1004
My hair is prone to frizziness and even after I have straightened it, sometimes the dry and split ends are still visible. I often use the Dumb Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner by Tigi, and I've been really happy with the results. I was really excited to hear about the Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff and I couldn't wait to give it a go. ...
What does the product do?
The product is described as being the perfect finishing touch for your hair do. It hydrates your locks, leaving the hair looking smoothed, shiny and frizz free. It also claims that it will add shine to the hair and that the product will work in a lightweight that won't weigh down the hair or leave it looking flat. Despite the name of the product, it isn't just for blondes and it can be used by those with any hair colour.
How do you use the product?
The product needs to be applied to dry hair that has already been styled and it is be used to perfect your locks. You need to take a small amount of the product from a pot and after placing it in the palm of the hands, you need to rub your hands together. You then need to smooth the product over the length and the ends of the hair.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a cute round pot that is really pretty and it looks lovely on display in my bathroom. The top half is a shiny pink colour while the bottom half is see through and you can see the creamy, pearly pink coloured product inside. It has a screw top lid and as it comes in a tub, it's easy to control the exact amount of the product that you need so there won't be any wastage. The product will cost around £11 for 42 grams and it can be bought from most good hairdressers and from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product smells just like the shampoo and the conditioner from the Dumb Blonde collection. It is really fruity and creamy, and completely delicious. I love it and you can smell it evidently as you apply the product into the hair and the aroma stays in the hair for a long time which is brilliant for me! The product has quite a thick consistency and it is powdery pink in colour. I have dark brown hair and the colour doesn't translate on the hair so that's a good thing. The product feel quite sticky on the hands but it disappears on the hair and it doesn't cause any tangles.
You really don't need to use much of the product at all in order to get the desired results and the more you use, the greasier your hair will look. Just a teeny amount works well and smooths the hair beautifully. It calms down all my fly away bits and split ends so it makes the hair look really smooth and sultry. It has a lovely shine to it and it makes my hair look lovely. The results are fairly long lasting but sometimes reapplication is needed. You can carry the product around with you as it's small and it takes two seconds to reapply so it can be done on the go.
Conclusion
All in all, I really love this product. It makes my hair look really silky and hides my dry ends. It smells good enough to eat and the aroma stays on my hair. It makes my hair shiny and healthy looking without causing greasiness or tangles, as long as it's used in moderation. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again although I don't anticipate it running out anytime soon. Read the complete review |

Tigi Bed Head Superstar Leave-in-Conditioner
by sparkle1004
My hair is frizzy and out of control which means that I need to blow dry and straighten it each time that I have washed it. This in turn means that my hair is quite dry and damaged, and sometimes my usual conditioner alone doesn't quite cut it. This is why I decided to buy the Tigi Bed Head Superstar Leave In Conditioner to give it a ... helping hand.
What does the product do?
The product delivers plenty of promising claiming that it will condition, detangle and volumise your hair all in one go. It says that is will thicken the hair, make it shine and give it body and volume. It should leave your hair soft and in a better condition while making it smell like strawberry yoghurt. Now you can't argue with that.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied to hair that has been shampooed and conditioned. It should be sprayed in hair that has been towel dried and then you need to comb the hair through to ensure that the product has been evenly applied. You can then dry and style the hair in the usual way.
Pakcaging and Price
The product comes contained within a plastic pearly hot pink bottle which is ever so slightly see through bottle so you can see how much of the product you have got left. The bottle is pretty and eye catching, and it looks nice on display in my bathroom. The product is dispensed by pushing down on the top of the white pump and the product has a plastic cap to protect the product. The spray will cost you around £11 for 200ml of the product and it can be bought from most good hairdressers and also from a variety of online websites.
Application and Performance
The product does have a really strong aroma of strawberries which is quite creamy, really sweet and a tiny bit medicinal. I do like it as I like sweet and fruity aromas but I know it has been a bit off putting to some of my friends. The aroma stays in the hair to which is good for me but might not be so good for the people sitting around me. It is easy to apply and the pump is easy to push. The product comes out as a short burst of spray and I spray the bottle several times to cover my long hair. My hair is easy to brush through, dry and style after use.
Once my hair is dry, it does feel soft and in a slightly better condition. It is less frizzy and easy to brush through. It looks marginally thicker but it's nothing to write home about and I would say that if you were buying it simply for volumising purposes, you'll be disappointed! It does make my hair shine a little bit and smell like strawberries. It would probably be a nice product for holidays too when your hair is dry and it is also quite a summery smell.
Conclusion
All in all, this is a nice leave in conditioner which gives your hair a bit of extra hydration and leaves it soft and shinier. It doesn't do hardly anything volume wise so if this is the reason that you bought the product, you'll be disappointed. It also has a strong aroma so you should check if you like it before buying the product. Read the complete review |
