Recently it seems I can?t seem to get away from expensive beauty products. Perhaps I am becoming more vain, or, more likely, I have made the unconscious decision to not be such a cheap-skate when it comes to buying hair and make-up products. I am beginning to realise that paying more for something sometimes, (but not always!) gives better results. This is defiantly the case with my latest purchase ? TIGI Bed Head ?control freak? shampoo.

TIGI is a great brand that makes all kind of expensive hair care and styling products. It is sold ?only in professional salons?, and you?ll be lucky to find a bottle of anything under 6 or 7 quid. They do everything from shampoo and conditioner to sprays and oils and mousses and serums. Basically if you have a feature of your hair that you don?t like they will have a product to sort it out for you. Bed Head is a range of hair care products made by TIGI. Control freak is a particular Bed Head range that is for ?frizz control and straightening?.

What is it like?
Firstly the smell?.I am a complete sucker for nice smelling shampoo, and I haven?t smelt a nicer shampoo than this since fructis. It smells exactly like when you cut into a whole pineapple, it?s absolutely delicious. It comes in a tall, clear, squeezable plastic bottle with a silver top that you pull up to get stuff out (like a sports drinking bottle). The actual shampoo is a lemon yellow colour and is almost opaque.

How does it feel?
I?ve never really raved about a shampoo before, all shampoos I?ve tried before seemed really similar, if you?d washed my hair with any of the normal brands I wouldn?t stand a chance of telling what you?d used. But my control freak shampoo is definitely different. Firstly, there?s how clean it gets your hair. You know how your hair often feels ?squeaky? clean when you?ve just washed out your sh
ampoo; well I?ve never felt my hair so squeaky! Another great thing is that my hair was actually cleaner for longer, which I didn?t think possible. Normally my hair will last 2 days without a wash, but at the end of 2 days it was still looking remarkably clean, much cleaner than it usually is. On top of all that, I?ve found with this shampoo that a little goes a long, long way. I started using my normal amount of shampoo, but was amazed by how much it lathers up, even if your hair is really greasy. Which is a great, considering how much a bottle costs (more later).

And does it ?control??
Now I?ve used shampoos that claim to straighten hair and control frizz before, and they?ve never worked. But when I washed my hair with control freak shampoo and let it dry naturally I was amazed ? my hair was actually straighter. Normally letting my hair dry naturally leaves it looking like a wavy ball of frizz, but it actually looked reasonably straight and much sleeker than I?ve ever seen it before. In conjunction with my ceramic straighteners (which were a little miffed that they might be out of a job), my hair felt a million dollars, straight, smooth, silky and shiny. Usually I find that shampoo that claims to conquer frizz leaves lots of coating in your hair, but this shampoo actually does a better job, without feeling like your hair is coated in anything. After a few uses I am also noticing that my hair is in better condition, the ends are not so dry and I have fewer split ends.

Advantages
Well?where to start? Most importantly, this shampoo does its most essential job ? it cleans your hair, and very well too. It also smells great, and lathers really well so a bottle lasts a long time. And as for the ?bonus? features, you really will have straighter, softer less frizzy hair after using this shampoo. As it says on the bottle, ?it will stomp the curl and fight the frizz.?
It leaves your hair in great condition too. I also have the control freak conditioner, but if you can only afford one thing then get the shampoo, it?s so good you almost don?t need the conditioner!

Disadvantages
Only one - the cost. The shampoo is £6.50 for quite a large bottle (350ml) and the control freak conditioner to go with it is £8.25 for 250ml. But I do think that the cost is worth it, the bottle lasts a long time, and does a great job.

Availability
TIGI products (including the Bed Bead range) are only available in salons. You might like to ring around to compare prices but after scouring the internet I haven?t found anywhere selling it cheaper than what I paid. I know that it is definitely available in Tony and Guy salons. You can also find it on the internet (often with free delivery) if you are feeling lazy.


Overall this shampoo is a great buy if you are feeling rich or just fancy giving your hair a treat. You will save money on extra hair products as the shampoo does a better job than most other styling products I own. This shampoo gives clean, gorgeous smelling, smooth, silky hair in great condition. What more could a girl want (except a rich boyfriend to buy it for her)?!
