Advantages: Fabulous shampoo

Disadvantages: A bit pricey

Bored of my usual shampoos and conditioners, I decided to have a bit of a splurge and invested in some products from Tigi's Catwalk range. Catwalk's Fashionista shampoo claims to be colour protecting. To quote them directly, 'It protects, enhances, prevents colour fading and gently lathers impurities away.' My hairdresser uses the Catwalk range, so I already knew that Fashionista was a good shampoo for my hair. Believe me, I wouldn't shell out a tenner a bottle without being pretty darn sure that what I was getting was exactly right!

First impressions - Fashionista shampoo comes in a tall, clear bottle, which allows the colour of the shampoo (pearlescent mauve) to shine through. It looks pretty funky and would liven up any bathroom. The shampoo itself is fairly runny and smells quite sweet and fruity - kind of like Juicy Fruit chewing gum, but nicer and not so sickly. It lathers up really well, so you don't need to use quite so much.

Cleaning action - as a mum of two toddlers, I get all sorts of stuff plastered in my hair. Fashionista managed to get rid of it all without irritating my scalp, so they get a tick in the 'gently lathers impurities away' box! After shampooing, my hair feels fairly soft and tangle free, so I could probably go without conditioner in an emergency.

Lasting results - My hair is highlighted and I can honestly say that the colour hasn't changed over the few weeks that I've been using Fashionista, I consider this to be a result, as some shampoos really do dull your hair colour.

Value for money - at a tenner a for a 400ml bottle, this is not a cheap option. However, I find that I only need about half the amount of shampoo I would usually use, so it does actually work out to be reasonable value for money. Also, lots of salons regularly do incentives (e.g. buy the shampoo and get the conditioner half price), which works out quite well.

Summary: A great shampoo that certainly lives up to its claims
