Argos Value Range 2 Slice Toaster
Advantages: works well, clean design, cheap
Disadvantages: need to toast small loafs of bread
I bought this toaster two years ago when my old faithful toaster finally packed in, i was a bit tight for money as i was on maternity leave at the time and my wages were terrible. I needed a toaster as we are a family who eats toast on a daily bases. My husband searched on line for a cheap toaster and found the argos value range toaster for under £5.00. I was not very keen on the design but i was talked into buying it.
We reserved it at our local argos shop and collected it later that day. It came in a card board box and had a very basic design on it, i was not impressed but when i took it out of the box i warmed to my new toaster. I no longer own the toaster as i recently had a new kitchen fitted and bought a red gloss toaster, I did hand it down to my younger brother who just bought his first flat, he says its still going strong.
The toaster is white in colour and looks quite plain in design, has no stylish features about it what so ever but on the upside it looks very clean and tidy. The cable length is good and i could sit it on any worktop space in my kitchen without worrying about it having to reach the plug socket.
It is a two slice toaster and is suitable for a small family but the way my husband eats toast i should have bought the four slice toaster! I was slightly disappointed that you need to use small slices of bread and recommend using no bigger than medium slices or it will get stuck trying to remove it. I also toast pancakes in it as they fit in perfectly but need to use a knife to remove them.
It has 7 toaster settings depending on how brown you like your toast, i like my toast to be a golden colour so our toaster is usually set on setting 3 and have perfect toast every time. The toaster has a cancel feature, i only use this if i need to check on my toast or stop it from browning to much. To set the settings you just turn the dial to your chosen setting.
The toaster has a handle like most toasters that you have to push down to start cooking toast, i would recommend that you hold the handle down for a few seconds until it catches or it pops straight back at you but my husband says that he never has that problem and i must not be doing it right!
It has non slip feet or gripper slippers as i like to call it, it stops it from sliding along any surface and i do not like it when toasters move on surfaces as crumbs always come out the bottom of the machine. Its very easy to clean i just use hot soapy water or a damp cloth, i try not to rub or wipe to hard because from previous experience i have wiped of the sticker settings.
I owned it for a year and handed it down to my brother, its lasting well and we have certainly had our moneys worth from this toaster. I am no longer a value range snob as i now own several value range items including argos value fryer.
Summary: would recommend and buy again!
