Advantages: Has everything you need to make your toast

Disadvantages: None

Eating toast is a comfort food for me, some people like to eat crisps and chocolate and I like to eat toast and there is simply nothing better than having a nice thick slice of toast dripping in butter to make you feel better. So it is essential that I have a decent toaster that cooks nice toast to the right amount of browning, not too burnt and not too undercooked and it needs to accept different sized slices of toast, whether they are quite thin or big huge slabs of bread.

The Breville TT33 is a 4 sliced metal toaster and retails in the region of £60-£80 depending on where you buy it from. Breville for me are a good kitchen brand and you definitely get value for money and there are many reasons why I chose to spend £79.99 on a toaster when I know you can buy them from as little as £9.99 but I saw this toaster in Comet and it ticked all of my must have boxes and I decided to splash out a little and get myself something I would be totally happy with.

Firstly as I have already said, I wanted a toaster which was designed to take different thicknesses in bread rather than one generic toaster which takes one thickness of bread and to toast it you have to cram it in as best you can hoping that you don't set your kitchen on fire. So this toaster has what is called a variable width slot and that ticked my must have box. The second feature that I like to have on my toaster is the high lifting facility because if you are toasting slightly thicker slices of bread they often don't pop up as high as thinner slices of bread and you end up burning your fingers in the process of rescuing your toast, whereas with the high lifting facility it pops the toast up at a higher lever for you to grab it.

Now this toaster also comes with a variable browning control button which is a really good thing to have. If you are living with someone who likes to have their toast burnt to the point of cremation and you like your toast brown but not burnt then this button could save you many arguments because you simply set it to either cremate the toast, which also saves you having to put the toast back into the toaster numerous times to get it just right and if you don't want it burnt then you can set it to the level you do like to get your perfect toast. You can also with this toaster cook your toast from frozen, so if you are one of those people who always keeps a loaf of bread in the freezer for emergencies (yep that is me too) and you suddenly need some toast, you don't have to wait for the loaf of bread to defrost, you can just put it into the toaster and cook it. If you are mid-way trough cooking your toast and someone comes to the door or you need to go out and you don't want to risk burning your house down there is a cancel button so that you can cancel cooking your toast mid-cycle and then re-cook it once you come back, the second you do cancel your toast being cooked it does pop up immediately. When you are ready to eat your toast there is a re-heat function which is a lifesaver at times and if your toast has gone cold you can also use this function to warm it up.

The final function to mention is the crumb tray, one of the biggest headaches I had with my last toaster was the crumbs which collected in the bottom of each of the slots that often lead to the burning smell every time I used to use the toaster and hadn't remembered to empty it, with the Breville TT33 there is a crumb tray which is slotted at the bottom of the toaster and to empty it you simply remove it by pulling it out from the toaster and empty the contents into the bin. It is really easy to do and it does capture 99% of the crumbs.

I am really pleased that I bought this toaster, it is multi-functional and really easy to use and is definitely worth spending the money on and I highly recommend it.
