      Breville Toaster VTT178

Well my old toaster finally gave up the ghost last week and I had to fork out for a new one. While I was shopping at Morrisons I was looking at the toasters and chose to buy this one at £16.99 which was an average price compared to the ones on display there.
I was attracted to this one as it looked more sturdier than the others and the part at the side where you click down for your bread to toast has a smooth action and also the dial at the front was firm you can also turn it to the middle of the numbers so that you can toast your bread at three and a half for a golden brown looking toast, or two and a half for lighter toast.

The toaster comes in white only and has a crumb tray at the bottom for easy emptying. This slides out and in easily and if you empty it regularly it reduces smells of burn toast as lots of crumbs collect in the bottom of the tray and heat up again if you don't empty it regularly.

It has two bread slots which is handy for a toast supper, just pop your two slices of bread into the top and pull down the level and wait. Your toast will be ready in a matter of minutes depending on what setting you have put the dial at the front on.

The control panel at the front of the toaster is simple to use its a dial that lights up when the toaster is in use and this has numbers one to five for the toast setting, the browning control regulates how much the bread is toasted, the lower the setting the lighter the toast will come out. I like mine on three and a half as this makes it nice and golden brown but the toast is nice and crunchy too.
Dry bread or thin bread will toast quicker than thick sliced bread so you will have to adjust the dial to get the right kind of toast for your taste.

There is a cancel button that can stop the toasting process at any time during toasting, pressing this button makes the toast pop up and you can check how much it has done and pop it back on or take it out to butter.

When the toast pops up you can also lift the handle at the side higher to elevate the toast and take it out of the toaster.
There is also a defrost button for you to make toast from bread taken straight out of the freezer, which is really handy for me as I'm one of those people who always forget to take things out of the freezer to defrost overnight and have to use this button a lot.
This button also lights up so that you can see the toaster is defrosting and it works really well.

You can also reheat toast that has cooled down, say if for instance you are making toast and the phone goes and you answer it and find that the toast has made and gone cold or cool before you have had chance to get off the phone. Then with this button you can heat it up again this button is another one that lights up and the light on all the buttons is blue so can easily be seen. To show you what function your toaster is on.

When you first get the toaster and have removed it from the packaging, which is all cardboard and can be recycled. You have to turn the toaster on without the toast in it, as there may be a slight odour which is just because it is new. Just use the toaster without bread in it and then when it's been used once to get rid of the new odour it is safe to use.
Do not put your toaster under kitchen cupboards as they will get hot and then become a fire hazard.

If your toaster jams switch it off allow it to cool down then carfully ease the toast out of the toaster, never try and get it out with a knife.
Other don't with the toaster are :-
      Never butter bread before toasting
Never use sugary breads in the toaster.
Always replace the crumb tray before using the toaster.
Always allow the toaster to cool down before cleaning it.

On the whole its a simply designed toaster, cheap to buy, easy to use and easy to maintain.
I'm happy that I can stil have toast for breakfast because I was beginning to feel lost without my toaster.
