BATTLE of the TOASTER!

Advantages: Makes life alot easier for toast lovers/larger families
Disadvantages: The kids now argue over who is having 4 toast first instead of 2 lol
**and the battle begins........**
..... *Thump THUMP THUMP, like a heard of flippin elephants - cue my two beloved teenagers, Missy Moo and Mr Monster, racing downstairs arguing over who's using the bathroom first and who's using the toaster first. Same old, same old!! .......Spot on 8 am, Monday to Friday, let the battle commence! Weekends got a break from it, (on a morning at least)!
16 years and 13 years and scuffles over the toaster - it beggars belief! The day I received my 4 slice Brev as a Christmas present, was a day of great happiness! Give me anything that's going to make life with battling teenagers a little less stressful and I'm one happy bunny!
**2 Slicer or 4 Slicer?**
That flippin 2 slicer - If Breadcrumbs weren't flying everywhere I was spending half my time tipping it upside down to free it of crumbs. Add to that the time spent trying to prize out stuck crumpets or burnt tea cakes, and let's not forget the smoke alarm going off every 5 minutes. Standing on a chair flapping a tea towel at the smoke alarm due to the toast burning is now fortunately a thing of the past!
A 2 slice toaster is fine for a couple/small family that don't consume a lot of toast at the same time, but for those that are big toast lovers, or those with large families, a 4 slicer really is so much more less of a stress and saves on time if you're often in a rush.
Breville is a hugely successful reputable company that's one of the leading brands for kitchen appliances. They produce high quality products that are very well designed, reliable and good looking.
Having already purchased several Brev products over the years, the choice for my family that bought it for me was probably based upon the fact I have other Brev products out on display in my kitchen. Wise choice! Thank you Mum!
Well it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, which I first thought when saw the size of it. Im' a bit of a strange one for appliances being clumpy looking and taking up too much space, but I was pleased to find my Brev sits tidily and in no way shape or form makes the worktop look cluttered. ' Brev' as I like to call him sits tidily alongside the breadbin and kettle sporting a rather snazzy and professional look. With a shiny steel finish to its front and black sides, back and bottom, Brev blends in perfectly with out other black and silver appliances. Phew!
Boasting 4 extra wide slots, gone are the days of stuck hot cross buns. Yay! These wide slots are perfect for your own home cut extra thick bread *drools*. Not good for those dieting, as since I've had this toaster I tend to now buy uncut loaves and cut MASSIVE chunks of bread for the toaster. What I love about the extra wide slots is the fact that crumpets, bagels, tea cakes and so on slip in easily, with plenty of room either side. Nothing has got stuck so far! Joy!
Each double slot is individually controlled allowing for slices of toast to be browned/toasted to onces personal preference. This is fab for us because my daughter likes her toast barely toasted, and my son and partner like their toast very well done. Setting these controls is all very well and good until moi wants toast and as i've popped it in I suddenly remember the pre-sets and have to adjust them. I like my toast on a medium setting which is different to the others in our family.
The controls also illuminate blue which is very pleasing to the eye.
**The controls are**:
(x2 of each)
*Cancel button - Cancels and ejects the toast (useful for me due to the reason just mentioned)
*Defrost button - Perfect for those that bulk buy bread and freeze it. Pop your frozen bread straight in and extra time is programmed to allow the bread to toast.
*Browning control - is labelled from numbers 1-6, with 1 being barely browned, to 6 being well done. Personally I find 3-4 most suited to those that like their toast, not too soft, and not too hard.
*Re-Heat button - Does exactly as it says and re-heats. This is idea for me who pops bread in the toaster whilst trying to sort several other things at the same time. I can't count the number of times the toast has popped up and i've left it too long and had to lob it due to it being cold and hard. Re-heating is a fab option because it doesn't re-cook and burn it like my old toaster would have, it just warms it up so its fresh enough to butter again.
*High Lift Loading handle - This feature for the loading handle enables you to life the toast high, thus saving yourself from sticking your fingers in and burning yourself on the inside thats piping hot. I find this feature fab for hoisting crumpets that have sunken deep inside as they were always a pain in the butt to rescue. Similarly you can use this feature to lower bread/crumpets etc in.
*Removal Crumb Tray - For collecting crumbs and allowing easy removal. Yay! Gone are my days of turning my old two slice toaster upside down creating a sandstorm of crumbs on the floor that my son would have huge fun making more of a mess of.
*Cord Storage/Non Slip Feet
**For Best results/Be aware of**
*Thicker bread takes longer to toast than thinner, so just control accordingly. It may take a few attempts with the settings to perfect your toast to your own taste.
*Sultanas and bits of dried fruit from a fruity loaf or tea cake can sometimes get stuck - be aware of burning
*Switch the toaster off before cleaning and don't try to place it all in the sink. I'm sure most people know this but my teenage lad almost killed Brev and us lot with it lol
Summary: Overall - A Snazzy toaster that is less of a hassle than the 2 slice
