We have recently bought our dream home and as it is a new build we have been buying a lot of new things to fill it with so everything is perfect. After realising I could sell my old kettle on good old ebay for the same price as a new one I had seen I wasted no time in doing just that and purchasing the toaster from the Brillante range at Delonghi. I have always been a fan of the Delonghi brand for small kitchen appliances and was basically just swapping my old pastel blue one to the white diamond effect on the Brillante range which will go perfectly in my new white kitchen. The design of this range is what appealed to me as it looks so unusual with its diamond effect. The range comes in either black or white. The electronic controls allow that you can ensure your toast is done to perfection. I sometimes enjoy eating toast done so lightly it is like warm bread when I am eating soup, but if I am eating toast on its own I prefer it much more well done. This toaster gives the option for either and is simply adapted to suit your needs by the quick turn of a dial. The 'extra lift' position makes getting toast out much easier as the spring lever allows for an extra 'lift' up when it needs removing, but it is in its lower position once it has popped to keep the heat in. The defrost, reheat and cancel function are also really good to use and I use them all. There are 2 removable crumb trays underneath the toaster which ensures a stress free and easy removal of excess crumbs. I do this periodically rather than after every use. The 2.3 kg weight means this toaster is more an 'on the counter' toaster rather than one you would get in and out of the cupboard for each use. Rather than our previous Icona toaster from the Delonghi range which was basically the same toaster made from a metal casing, this toaster (due to its diamond detailing) is made from plastic. The plastic feels sturdy and tough and has withstanded a few knocks already during its short life without any damage or cracking to the casing. The non-slip feet make it easier to use as it doesn't move around when you insert or remove the bread. Dimensions (W x D x H cm): 29 x 31 x 20 1.8kW rapid toasting. 4 slices. Within the Brillante range there is also a kettle and coffee machine. Available in black or white. Has an RRP of £61.99 but I paid £44. After a quick search I have found it for sale on John Lewis website for £39.

        Efficient and solid

My toaster broke recently and I sought to replace it with a more expensive model that would not only look good in my recently remodelled kitchen but that would also have some durability about it so that I won't find myself seeking to replace in a while. I did some online reading and a few months ago purchased the Delonghi Brillante CTJ4003 which has met all of my needs and more! The first thing that hit me about the Delonghi Brillante CTJ4003 was the stylish look it has. Toasters can be ugly parts of the kitchen and having spent a lot of money redoing my own kitchen I felt that I needed to invest in a good toaster so it didn't ruin the look. This sleek, black stylish look really is fetching and it looks every penny you pay for it. Which in my case for £40. Another appeal here was the 4 slot holes. 2 is just sometimes not enough especially if you live with other people. The four slots here make up for that and the nice things is you can adjust the width to cater for the type and size of bread you are using. It toasts quickly and evenly and this far I have had no issues. All the features you would expect are there and it is easy to clean. As usual you can use this to defrost, which I have found works better than any other similar feature I have used and hence saving a lot of time and reheat which I have not quite worked out the point of yet. One problem I have always had with toasters is uneven toasting and I cannot stand burnt toast which means I often had to eat underdone toast but here the Delonghi Brillante CTJ4003 provides even and consistent toasting with the settings being just rightly balanced so you produce any toast you like! The plastic coating is tough and durable and hard to scratch meaning this should stay in tip top condition for a long time. You know what kitchens are like, it could easily get hit with a pan or tray...this would stand that test. But all in all on judging the Delonghi Brillante CTJ4003 you have to look at price. Is it value for the money it charges? After all it is at the high end of the market, it is much more expensive than the last four toasters I have bought combined but it looks good, toasts well and if it lasts a long time, which I am sure it will, then I will say that it was indeed very good value for money.
