tanyatigerlily Delonghi CT04A: ... turns into actual toast (instead of warm bread). But on the other hand it is beautiful with its Retro styling, and chrome dials and levers. It has the advantage of having reheat, cancel and defrost buttons (which all work well), as well as handy trays for cleaning out any unwanted crumbs at the bottom of the toaster. As far as toasters go the Delonghi is quite bulky but not very heavy, and is priced at around £40....

At first glance you could be forgiven for mistaking it for an old style radio with its retro dials, basic buttons and all round classical appearance. With an aesthetical appeal such as this it would sit comfortably in the majority of kitchens regardless of their design. ... review I m writing is about the cream version of this toaster, I also have the matching kettle which I have reviewed recently. Unlike the kettle, I have been very pleased with the overall performance of this toaster. The look It has a very stylish matt cream finish with silver buttons and handle. It goes beautifully with my kitchen which is also mainly cream, I think coloured toasters and kettles are just a bit more funky than their silver counterparts. The size I think it is slightly larger than average for a 2 slice toaster, approx 6" deep, 11" wide and 8" high, so may take up a little bit more room but it does make it look good and chunky, it has...

... toaster delivers in looks and performance but loses out in the practicality stakes somewhat. The cream finish is matt and easy to clean, it doesn t stain and tarnish like some stainless steel toasters can. The only slight problem with cleaning is the 6 small silver buttons on the front, they do become marked with fingerprints and crumbs tend to stick around them. The crumb tray makes it easy to clean the toaster out. It toasts evenly, and is well capable of taking thicker slices of bred/crumpets/pitta etc. I have experienced a few problems with the browning controls, ie the two larger silver knobs. They are fairly easy to turn accidentally when cleaning the work surf...
