Indestructible toaster? (Dualit Vario 20293)

Advantages: Keeps toast warm and built to last

Disadvantages: pricey and only two slots

We got this toaster as a (very generous) wedding present nearly five years ago. I am not very good at looking after toasters and have gone through 6 in the 10 years prior to my dualit. I believe at the time of purchase it was £80 which for a toaster is quite pricey.

It does two slices at a time is it's only problem - it would have been nice (but a very excessive present) to have had four slots. However, It is robust and very well made - hence its exsistence in my kitchen. The timer dial in particular has a satisfying and well made click as it turns.

Its approximately 25cm x 20cm, so does not take up to much of the kitchen, but because it's squarer and deeper than convential toasters does protrude a bit.

I have the polished siver version with the sandwich cage (makes getting crumpets out very easy) and although the polished finish takes some cleaning and is prone to marking after it looks great in the kitchen - eventually.

It's quick to toast and nice that you can check the toast whilst the element is still switched on to ensure you don't burn your toast , it also doesn't pop up which means that whilst you've got distracted elsewhere, your toast is not sticking up out of the top of the toaster getting cold, instead its still inside staying warm with the residule heat.

I buy things and am shocked and dissappointed when they don't last forever. I expect things to last forever and keep working - I think this toaster will.
